Top 10 Most-Prescribed Meds for 2017
Over the past weekend, I met a lot of great people here in Denver. We spoke often about the various prescription drugs that their doctors had given to them during 2017. Some of appointments I have had since the Home Expo of last weekend, make me thankful that I am in the industry I am. They need some info about whether or not these meds are actually working properly for them.
Here are the top 10 most-prescribed Meds for 2017:
1. Vicodin, Norco, Xodol (hydrocodone, acetaminophen) ---Drug class: Opioid/acetaminophen combinations. Prescribed for: Pain management.
2. Synthroid, Levoxyl, Unithroid (levothyroxine) --- Drug class: Thyroxines. Prescribed for: Thyroid deficiency.
3. Delasone, Sterapred (prednisone) --- Drug class: Corticosteroids. Prescribed for: Arthritis, some cancer symptoms.
4. Amoxil (amoxicillin) --- Drug class: Penicillin antibiotics. Prescribed for: Bacterial infections.
5. Neurontin (gabapentin) --- Drug class: Anti-epileptics. Prescribed for: Seizures, nerve pain.
6. Prinivil, Zestril (lisinopril) --- Drug class: Angiotensin converting enzyme Inhibitors. Prescribed for: Blood pressure, heart failure.
7. Lipitor (atorvastatin) --- Drug class: Statin. Prescribed for: High cholesterol.
8. Glucophage (metformin) --- Drug class: Biguanides. Prescribed for: Type 2 diabetes.
9. Zofran (ondansetron) --- Drug class: Serotonin antagonists. Prescribed for: Nausea.
10. Motrin (ibuprofen) --- Drug class: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Prescribed for: Fever and inflammation.
So many of my current clients knew more than 3 on this list and many also take more than 3 on this list.
