A great organizational culture is a key to developing the traits necessary for business success. Our culture shapes the way we work and play, and it makes a difference in how we view ourselves and others. It affects our values—what we consider right and wrong. The Great Cultural Iceberg
Unhealthy cultures are breeding grounds for unethical behavior. Every so often, the internal culture of an organization becomes visible to the outside world when bad decisions or poor behavior reveal the underbelly of the beast. Potential customers make decisions to do business based on how they feel about a company’s culture. Potential employees make decisions on whether to join and stay based on a company’s culture. Culture is simply the way things really get done when nobody’s looking. Every company has a culture, whether or not it has been formally defined. The example of an iceberg provides a good analogy for corporate culture:
The portion of the iceberg we can see (above the water) is the way we SAY we get things done and includes more formal items such as vision, strategy, goals, policies, and procedures. What is invisible or not easily seen are the things below the water. These explain how we REALLY get things done. This includes perceptions, tradition, values, unwritten rules, and generally the feelings and emotions of its people. In an effective corporate culture, there is no difference above and below the water. In an ineffective culture, there are differences between what you say you do and what you actually do.
Companies anchored by a strong organizational culture have leveraged their cultural "capital" by activating their long-standing values while navigating these tumultuous times. These companies have a reserve of goodwill and mission focus that employees have been able to draw on as they face circumstances previously unimagined. The strong cultural values established over time allow companies with cultures that support flexibility, collaboration, and resiliency to withstand the waves of change. Therefore I pray that God will give you the wisdom to deal with all these kinds of traits because, no leader can rise to a higher level in his workplace until all these traits have been materially dealt with in his organization, and if you deal with them in a canal way you can cause more damage to yourself and your organization. Always Pray, Learn and depend on God, He will surely help you.
