Toronto's tech scene is on fire. The city created 28,900 new tech jobs in 2017, more than the amount of industry jobs created in San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. combined, according to a study from CBRE. What's driving the rush? It’s partly due to office costs: Finding 75,000 square feet of office space for about 500 workers costs about $30.2 million a year in Toronto. It’s $57.4 million in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here’s what people are saying.

Sergio Marchionne, former leader of Fiat Chrysler and Ferrari, has passed away at 66 following complications from surgery. The CEO was replaced earlier this week due to his declining health. Marchionne, “architect of the automaker’s dramatic turnaround,” brought Fiat back from the brink of bankruptcy — and saw the company’s value grow more than tenfold — and engineered the Chrysler merger and Ferrari spinoff. Mike Manley will take the helm at Fiat and Louis Camilleri at Ferrari. Here’s what people are saying.

Canadian athletic brand Lululemon named former Sephora executive Calvin McDonald as its new CEO after the departure of Laurent Potdevin. McDonald served as president and CEO of the French retailer's Americas division. Potdevin resigned as CEO earlier this year after allegations of misconduct. • Here’s what people are saying.

The Trudeau government has requested a NAFTA review for a 30% Trump administration tariff on solar panel cells. The government deems the tariffs “illegal and unfair.” Monday’s request for a review under NAFTA's chapter 20 provision followed Mexican president-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s call for renewed NAFTA talks. The three countries have paused renegotiation as Canada and Mexico respond to U.S. tariffs. • Here’s what people are saying.

33 million people will become cord-cutters this year, predicts eMarketer — a hike from about 25 million in 2017. While an increasing number of people are canceling traditional pay-TV, internet-delivered services are booming: Nearly 148 million people in the U.S. watch Netflix at least once a month, while almost 89 million tune in to Amazon Prime Video and 55 million watch Hulu. • Here’s what people are saying.

Carmel Melouney, Idea of the Day has been steadily declining in quality. Todays is a bit of a low point I think
