Job Requirements

 

As the Trade Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for translating marketing plans into actionable trade brand plans, leading the alignment of the category, brand & market strategies.

 

Portfolio overview:

o   Category: Luxury fragrances and Colour Cosmetics

o   Brands: Hugo Boss, Gucci, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and other luxury fragrances

 

Your main areas of responsibility will include the following:

 

Channel and Customer

Put in place annual trade activity / co-op plan by retailer, by brand in collaboration with Brand Managers & KAM’s

Evaluate Promo ROI by mechanics + Promo P&L by mechanics (for main ones) to focus on relevant one

Evaluate off shelf / display & POS ROI to focus on relevant execution

Review pricing and align positioning with marketing

Portfolio & Assortment

Improved portfolio management between brands to avoid cannibalization

Define distribution strategy per brand per channel/store type

Review current assortment per customers

Develop strong launch and support plans maintaining the balance between new and re-support by brand

Action plan to list Core Assortment and commercialize missing SKU’s per customers

Ensure right level of stock per store

 

Global alignment

Work with international global contacts across the various brands to ensure that all trade activity is approved

timeously and within brand stipulated guidelines

Foster a good working relationship with internal global counterparts and share international

best practices with local SA team

Implement, where relevant, international best practice within the SA market

 

 

Perfect Store

Understand shoppers decision tree per categories

Define merchandising recommendation & Planograms per Brands/Channels/Placements

Investigate 2ndary placement opportunity & ROI per brands 

Re support of key priorities by customer channel

Execute merchandising approach

Develop Perfect Store for top doors

 

In store education

Develop BA's/Salesforce capabilities in partnership with training team

Create motivational tools for sales teams & BAs

 

Expand Coverage / Increased distribution

Assess white space landscape

Evaluate best strategy to expand coverage by channel / Category

Commercialize GTM for all new retailers

 

Demand Review Forecasting

Ensure all activity, ranging, launch activity reflected is in the forecast.

Oversee forecast of non-saleables

 

 

Develop Trade Marketing Ways of Working

Equip Sales with Brands knowledge and concept sell (Consumer trends, market trends, adapted innovations review)

Equip marketing with market knowledge and get appropriate support and tools

 

Job Profile

 

Education:

·       Qualified to bachelor's degree level, BCom marketing or equivalent

 

Required experience:

·       Minimum 8 years equivalent experience in the retail industry

·       Proven success in trade marketing roles

·      Luxury/FMCG experience beneficial

 

 

Technical Skills and Competencies:

·       Strong business and financial acumen and able to influence P&L to reach financial KPI’s

·       Analytical skills and attention to detail

·       Strategic thinking

·       Project, time and change management skills with diverse audiences and environments

·       Strong planning. organisational skills and can work with ambiguity

·       Manages stress and can work on multiple complex projects simultaneously

·       Strong market research skills, understands and can forecast trends

·       Able to lead self with strong interpersonal skills, EQ and teamwork abilities

·       Customer centric approach and the ability to respond to consumer and customer needs

·       Ability to work independently and employs sound judgement in decision making

·       Full proficiency in English language.  Confident in both written and spoken communication with the ability to present and influence at all levels. Proficiency in French an advantage

·       Proficiency in MS Office (intermediate to advanced)
