The workshop is designed to provide a deep understanding of a professional workflow applicable to various scales and design contexts. Participants will learn how to create fully parametric-informed 3D models using Rhino and Grasshopper, which can efficiently improve the design processes from concept development to detailed facade design.
This course will focus on creating organic shapes and temporary architecture, emphasizing how to animate these designs through video. You will learn to generate stunning visuals from 3D models created in Grasshopper and explore how to combine these models with images from Midjourney. We will cover the process of transforming these concepts into engaging animated experiences.
“AI-Driven Design Practice 2.0” will provide a practical framework for incorporating artificial intelligence into various stages of the design process. From early concept generation to more refined phases, AI can significantly enhance creativity and efficiency. Participants will learn how to strategically use SDXL in their workflows, covering text-to-image image-to-image techniques, the basics of video generation, and an introduction to LoRA training.
Current design and architecture practice is highly adopted to use parametric modeling tools and procedural workflows. Such methods help designers to explore a wide range of outcomes for a defined design question. Conventionally, 3D software were limited to certain geometrical modifiers that could be used, but algorithmic modeling tools such as Grasshopper offer the possibility to develop custom modifiers in your design workflow. This workshop will comprehensively explore the Grasshopper environment and how this tool can be used for advanced 3d modeling procedures.
The workshop will cover crucial design concepts directly dealing with building materials and construction, focusing specifically on the evolution and design of architectural components such as columns, facade panels, and roof systems. We will try to find answers that influence design decision-making within the behavior of natural materials, the plasticity of synthetic material, the intricacies of components entanglement, and the resolution of the robotic fabrication process.
This workshop explores 3d printed footwear design using procedural tools, allowing students to create professional-level manufacturing-ready 3d models of the highest quality using Houdini and blender. Students will explore a wide range of manufacturing technologies, empowering them to unlock their full design potential.
Learn to use Blender's Geometry Nodes to develop custom digital fabrication workflows. This hands-on workshop will teach you different approaches to developing tailored machine instructions, from drawing with plotters and cutting with CNCs to 3D printing and robotic fabrication.
