Reality: With over 3,000 active landfills in the United States, as much as 1,800,000 acres of habitat have been lost. Globally, >20 million acres of land is lost to landfills and this waste can be used to produce more renewable energy and many other products. In the process, we can clear up the landfills profitably too! One billion tires are wasted each year, which is equivalent to ~10 million tonnes per year.

Chemical Engineering World says that to produce 1 tonne of #monoethyleneglycol, 3 tonnes of #co2emissions are generated. ~100 million tonnes of #monoethyleneglycol is consumed for #pet, #polyesterfibres and many other products. You can remove all of it as well as #landfills.
