Are Travel Management Companies an asset?

With the plethora of online booking tools available to travellers now, does it really make sense to use a Travel Management Company (TMC)? Just where can a TMC add value?

In fact, it is precisely because of the confusing array of tools available  that using a Travel Management Company makes more sense than ever.

So yes, TMCs are an asset to businesses of all sizes. They can help businesses save time, money, and hassle when it comes to managing business travel. Here are some of the specific ways that TMC`s such as Travel Counsellors for Business can be an asset:

·       Save time and money: We have access to negotiated rates with airlines, hotels, and other travel providers. This means that we can often get businesses better deals on travel than they could on their own. We can also help businesses track and manage their travel expenses, which can help to save money.

Who books travel in your company at the moment?  Are individual travellers allowed to book their own travel?  Who polices this to make sure everyone is playing by the rules?  How do you know they are getting the best deal?

Once you’ve briefed your Travel Counsellor about your policies these policies become an integral part of every pre-booking process.  You know travel is happening within the agreed rates and everyone is playing by the rules.

·       Reduce administrative burden: Travel Counsellors for Business can take care of all the details of booking travel, such as finding flights and hotels, making reservations, and issuing tickets. This can free up businesses to focus on other tasks.

Using a Travel Counsellors to make the bookings for your staff ensures that the bookings are being made by someone who truly understands the systems, rates, and comparative deals.  Not only does this save time, but we can also offer hugely valuable advice to your staff – helping you to understand your options and make the best choices. Instead of hours spent online, this greater clarity comes from a single phone call or email– so you staff can be more productive too.

·       Improve compliance: Travel Counsellors for Business can help businesses comply with travel regulations, such as those related to duty of care and data protection.

·       Provide better customer service: Travel Counsellors for Business can provide your business with a dedicated travel manager who can answer questions and help with any problems that arise. This can help provide a better customer experience for your employees.

What happens when your travellers change their plans right now?  A phone call to the hotel, to the airline, to the transfer company, some time on hold as you wait for the arrangements to be changed, a “no”?

Why make three calls, explaining yourself over and over, and wasting time on hold, when a simple call to your dedicated Travel Counsellor could get the job done. And done efficiently, with no stress, no hold music, and then all the new travel arrangements texted or emailed to the traveller and visible in our myTC app ?

If you are looking for ways to improve your business travel program, then a TMC like Travel Counsellors for Business is a good place to start.

Here are some of the qualities to look for in a TMC:

·       Experience: The TMC should have a good track record of providing services to businesses of your size and industry. We have been awarded different awards that we are very proud of.

·       Reputation: The TMC should have a good reputation for customer service and compliance. You can check Trustpilot for reviews. Travel Counsellors are rated 5 star.

·       Technology: The TMC should use technology to streamline the booking process and provide real-time updates to travellers. Our myTC app will be us in your pocket at any time.

·       Flexibility: The TMC should be flexible and able to accommodate your specific needs. We work when our client need us and have no standard office hours.

Really informative article, Amelia. I think travel management companies are especially useful for first-time travelers since many aren't as familiar with the processes or fees involved with specific services. There would be a lot of cost savings involved that could make their trips a lot easier.
