Trends in Minerals & Materials Technology(MMT-2019)
The consumption of metals and their products has been increased
tremendously due to the development of civilization and technological
advances. Further, their utilization escalated in most of the developing
countries. As a result, metallurgical industries have increased their
production units as well as outputs to meet this rapid growing demand
of different metals. This augmented metal extraction causes serious
depletion of different primary resources. Therefore, there is a doubt
on sustainability of metal production in light of the expected shortage
of primary resources. In this uncertainty, low-grade ores, secondary
resources and wastes evolved as a ray of light. However, metal
extraction from these resources is not easy as that from primary
resources because they contain maximum impurities. To make it easy,
worldwide different scientists have explored their research with the
aid different aspects of science and technology that include the
advanced form of chemical, metallurgical, mining, biotechnological
and environmental engineering. This interdisciplinary research
related to different applications in the metallurgical industries is
further classified in to mineral processing, extractive metallurgy,
environmental technology and materials technology. The mineral
processing aids the suitability of different secondary mineral resources
for the low-cost metal extraction. The advanced extractive
metallurgical processes further optimise the metal recovery in the ecofriendly
way. Environmental problems are always associated with the
metallurgical processes starting from mining to metals and their
products. Therefore, environmental technology has a major role in
maintaining the race of the built ecosystem without disturbing the
natural ecosystem. Properties enhancement of metals and their alloys
have a big impact on overall production process of different
metallurgical industries. Since the above technologies are cooperative
to each other's, worldwide thousands of scientists are working
restlessly in different aspects of the research fields. Although it is a
spontaneous process, some groups have found the suitable solutions
to different problems of the metallurgical industries. But the solutions
must be reviewed in the research communities. They should be
transferred to the young and fresh brain of students and research
scholars for their innovative. Overall it can be said that there must be
some brainstorming among the research communities for the better
and fruitful solutions in the metallurgical industries. The National
conference on “Trends in Minerals & Materials Technology
(MMT-2019)” is a platform for different scientists, academicians and
industrialists throughout India to discuss and enlighten the trend of the
solutions with respect to the different problems associated with the
metallurgical industries.
