In the recent article, "Independent Trucking Firms - What's Your Contingency Plan?"
Molly Lacoursiere, Commercial Lines Account Executive at Leibel Insurance Group, provides some excellent guidance for independent trucking firms, to help ensure they are prepared for the "unknowns" that can happen.
First, ensuring that you have adequate insurance has to be at the top of your list. As Molly states "talking with knowledgeable professionals who ask the right questions, who clarify assumptions you have and offer insurance protection that makes sense for your business." This is a crucial step, to ensure you are protected if an "unknown" happens.
Throughout the article, Molly shares some crucial advice, that really does speak to the strength and passion she brings to her clients.
As trucking firms continue to navigate in our industry, it is crucial that they are aligned with professionals like Molly, and the team at Leibel Insurance Group, to ensure not only that you have the right insurance coverage, but that you are aligned with a professional that is passionate about your success.
If you would like to know more about how your insurance policy can support your contingency plan, I highly recommend speaking with the team at Leibel Insurance Group. You can contact them directly: trucking@ligroup.ca
In this excellent article, The Past, Present, & Your Future, Dana, owner of The Mindful Trucker breaks down essential guidance on getting what you want. I think it's safe to say, at some point or another, we, as people, desire to obtain the goals we set for ourselves.
Yes, goals, the word that far too often fades from our vocabulary after January passes, but I promise you, goals are just as important in June, as at the beginning of the year, and I really value the guidance Dana shares in this article. A key takeaway is how Dana breaks down the process like a recipe. Read the full article here.
The challenge a prospective client of WCBConsulting.ca was recently facing, led to the individual thinking outside of the box when their boss told them some unfortunate news.
For anyone responsible to manage workers' compensation claims, after the claims are in process, can be challenging.
Navigating through someone else's paperwork, incident reports, and pictures, to help gather an insight into what events actually happened, and then taking all of this information and recording it in a way that makes sense to you, in itself can be a tough task. But, the add to the challenge, you also need to understand the situation clearly, so you can effectively communicate with the injured worker, and their worker's compensation case manager can be tough.
While the prospective client was able to do their best, as they tried to navigate the details above, extra help was still required. They needed to understand how to complete the WCB forms, what to say to WCB, when to notify them, and what to do with the injured worker, which is where WCBConsulting.ca online training came in.
The next part of this journey is exactly why I (Josh) highly recommend anyone that requires assistance with claims management, to reach out to WCBConsulting.ca and speak directly with the owner, my friend, Anthony Butkovic.
As mentioned above, the prospective client informed Anthony of the unfortunate news. The unfortunate news was that their company did not have a budget to hire a WCB Service expert. Instead of Anthony simply saying "no money, no guidance", he took the time to walk through some key components to consider, so that way they could receive some help at the moment. Additionally, they were able to get creative with the solution, which ultimately lead to a much more affordable online training option.
WCBConsulting.ca recently wrote about this experience in the June 2022 Truck Focus Newsletter article, which can be read here. Additionally, if you are looking for guidance on your worker compensation needs, then I highly recommend speaking with Anthony and WCBConsulting.ca.
Have you heard the term "onboarding your employees"?
Recommended by LinkedIn
When I reflect on the various organizations that I have worked for in the transportation industry, I have to state, that the onboarding process is significantly different between each organization.
I'll even go back as far as when I made my first hire, as I tried to figure out "what do they need to know?" and it was a complete guess, and to be honest, a complete mess. My initial thought was, well, they have a driver's license, they seem like a nice person - I'll keep it simple and show them where the truck is and say something smart like "don't crash (haha)"... while the onboarding process was a little more thorough than that, it definitely was not enough.
So, ask yourself, have you heard the term "onboarding your employees"?
In the recent article, "Your Your New Hires The Best Way", written by Teresa Kiyawasew, owner of Kiy HR Services, Teresa breaks down some of the myths commonly heard around onboarding employees and provides some much-needed guidance with your onboarding. Read the article here.
Furthermore, if you are looking for guidance on your human resource requirements, such as how to hire and onboard an employee with retention in mind, then I highly recommend connecting with Teresa and starting working with her today!

As our industry continues to accept various technologies and integrate systems into our day to day operations, it is crucial that we trust the organizations that offer these services. Carrier compliance is one area that can have incredible benefits by integrating trusted systems into our organizations, which is why I am a proud advocate of ComplianceBox.

When you consider the state of the culture within your workplace, how do you believe your workplace's culture is, on a scale from 1 to 10?
1 being "meh, I'd rather live on a friend's couch instead of working there" and 10 can be "they literally can't stop our work community from taking over the world!"
I challenge you to ask yourself this question, honestly, and consider the possible outcomes if your culture meter does, or does not weigh as high as you thought it could, or should be.
As Tim Dyck, owner of Best Culture Solutions, Inc writes in his recent article, "What is Culture in the Workplace?", Tim states: "With more and more people leaving jobs and careers over culture, getting this right is more important than ever for organizations everywhere."
So, what can organizations do, improve their culture? I believe it's a question organizations need to dial down and be able to answer with clarity. To help you determine what your organization can do to improve its culture, I highly recommend speaking with my friend Tim Dyck, owner of Best Culture Solutions, today!

As a society, we continue to see the rise in inflation, which ultimately impacts each of us in one way or another.
When you consider the cost of basic operating expenses and the continued increases, it's extremely important that we remain diligent with the management of our spending and ultimately with our money.
In a recent article, written by Bo Banner, owner of Banner Wealth, he breaks down 3 main causes of inflation. I highly recommend taking a moment to learn by reading here.
Furthermore, if you are looking for a financial management organization that is dedicated to your financial future, then I highly recommend connecting with my friend Bo Banner!
My encouragement to you as we finish out the month of June is to have a clear vision of what it is you would like to accomplish in the next couple of weeks; create a detailed plan and execute the plan each and every day. July is approaching quickly, and I look forward to the guidance our industry will share in the upcoming Truck Focus Newsletter edition!
As always, let’s create a pivotal impact!
