The truth about retirement
What do you think is the goal of most, if not all, business owners?
Most people want to get to the point where they can get out of business. They call that retirement.
I’ve only retired once so far, and it was the worst thing I ever did. I retired at the age of, I think I was about 25 or 26. I took two years off and it was horrible, horrible.
I was so bored, but everyone had said that’s the goal. Get to a point where you know, you don’t have to work. But getting to the point where I didn’t have to work was the worst time in my life.
I’m pretty sure I experienced depression, and there is a direct correlation between retirement and the decline of mental, physical, emotional and chemical function in the body.
People who retire go into what’s called age-related decline 16 times faster than those who are at the same age who continue to work.
Now, I’m not saying you can’t get to a point where you’re doing everything that you want to do. If you’re not doing what you love then there’s a problem but, if you’re doing what you love then you’ll do it till the day that you die.
However, the level of intensity may vary. It might be intermixed with you know three month holidays in Spain and Japan and Antarctica, nothing wrong with that, but you never fully take yourself out of the game, or you never fully take yourself out of the activity of keeping your brain active and keeping your body moving.
Does this make sense? Business is very healthy for you if you practice it the right way. It keeps you young, keeps you vital and it keeps you energetic.
So, you might want to write this down, retirement equals death.

7yExactly! If you love what you do, why are you seeking retirement since day one. Why to suffer or become misserable for 30-45 years of your life until you "retire" from work. Completely absurd philosophy and true waste of time. Kerwin Rae, great article/video to reflect!
