Ukraine Crisis Appeal raises £1.6m thanks to Customers and Partners

It’s been two months since I shared what the Partnership was doing to support those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

I’m humbled that our Partners, customers and the Partnership have raised £1.6m for the British Red Cross. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s contributed.

At the time, I said that these donations were just the start. The need for humanitarian aid for those displaced from Ukraine because of the war is still desperate. We continue to do what we can.

In the last month we’ve forged a link with the Polish Red Cross and teamed up with logistics Partner Rapid Relief Team to send 10 lorry loads of food and water to refugees from Ukraine.

These have been packed with bottled water and grocery items that can be handed out quickly to those who are hungry or have limited facilities to prepare meals.

Two of our Partners went out to Krakow to help distribute these supplies and more are on their way to Poland to support Red Cross teams in Poland.

Closer to home, we’ve forged strong links with the Association of Ukrainians of Great Britain (AUGB).  We’re in regular contact with all 24 of its branches through our Partners working in the local area.

The AUGB is doing phenomenal work to support refugees coming into the UK and we’ll continue to do our part, providing food and drink as they gather at welcome meetings, as well as collecting money, clothes and food to donate to relief efforts. I'd particularly like to thank our branch Partners for volunteering at these events and for the donations they have helped raise so far for their local AUGB through our Community Matters scheme.

We’re also looking at how we can help refugees settle in the UK and work. The first step will be setting up a small trial in the Milton Keynes area supporting refugees with job applications and interviews.

When I joined the Partnership, it was its sense of purpose which set the business apart. I am proud and humbled to see that alive and well, and remain in awe of the overwhelming generosity from our Partners and customers.

Thank you all for supporting this incredible effort and if you’d like to make a donation to this important cause, please visit the following link: https://bit.ly/38euBHu

John Lewis and Partners have also donated time, staff and resources to support one of our charity members based in Havant. With their charity set up to fight human trafficking across the Ukrainian border, they found themselves on the front line supporting refugees fleeing to Moldova. John Lewis and Partners ensured the charity received much needed supplies. Thank you John Lewis & Partners Chris Eyre Trevor Garraway Daniel Webber 👏 👏 👏

As partners we are beautifull & all the work which helps people in need makes us even more attractive. So proud.

Hi Sharon, I wanted to discuss educational and reading English support with Association of Ukrainians of Great Britain. What's the best way to do that?
