Unboxing Joy with lululemon Ambassador Jasmine RaShae’

When we talk about the stories of Black people, one narrative is of courage and resilience in the face of historical and continued oppression. While this is one dimension to the lived experience of being Black, it's not the whole story - and lululemon Ambassador Jasmine RaShae' is here to "push that narrative."  

Jasmine is a yoga educator and the founder of Soulful Flow Yoga. Her practice expands the accessibility of wellness by inviting more Black and Brown folks to step onto the mat, whether that’s as a student or a teacher. Soundtracked by soul and R&B, Jasmine’s integrated, holistic approach to yoga and capacity building centers the vibrancy of culture and community.  

 At lululemon, we know that our Ambassadors are one of the most powerful ways that we can tune into the needs of the communities we serve. By codesigning what impact looks like with them and through their expertise, we amplify them in the work they're already doing while always asking what else is possible.   

It was through Jasmine's vision that Take Space, Thriving in Black Excellence was brought to life. An event curated to celebrate nine Black Ambassadors throughout the Pacific Northwest, the evening began with an intimate dinner. The team then welcomed the larger Seattle community for a screening of a lululemon powered documentary, highlighting each Ambassador and rewriting that one-dimensional story of courage and resilience into one that’s more whole – with Black joy and Black excellence at the center.  

To Jasmine, Black excellence means "operating and living within your truth” – and it was Jasmine’s truth that connected us to her back in 2019. Seattle Store Community Lead Annie Cavanagh caught wind of Jasmine’s mission and impact, and knew it aligned with ours at lululemon. Jasmine called her journey to becoming an Ambassador a series of "trust reps" – small opportunities where trust was built and sustained. Over time, she saw where lululemon aligned with her purpose and the impact we could unlock by working in synergy, and she officially joined us as an Ambassador in 2021. "Annie and I used to dream about the day that our Ambassador crew would be this diverse," Jasmine shared, "and now it's here."   

When asked what Black joy means to her, Jasmine shared stories of her family’s inside jokes and dynamic fantasy football games – for her, these memories represent the root of “unboxed joy, laughter and safety,” which that one-dimensional narrative of courage and resilience cannot contain.
