An Unexpected Turn at Ironman Texas
Sometimes, the journey is about more than the finish line. This past April 27th, I took my place at the start of Ironman Texas— my fourth such challenge— with all the determination and preparation one could muster. But life, as it often does, threw a curveball—or in my case, a crack in the road.
Just when I was finding my rhythm, my bike hit a crack, and in an instant, my race changed. The derailleur, a crucial piece of my bike, broke, and with it, my chances of completing the Ironman.
It’s easy to dwell on the ‘what ifs’ and the frustration of an incomplete race. Yet, here’s the lesson I’m taking away: resilience isn’t just about finishing; it’s about facing setbacks with grace and looking ahead to the next challenge.
So, while I didn’t cross the finish line this time, I’m grateful to have emerged with only scratches and bruises. I’m walking away with a renewed spirit and a reminder that every crack—literal or metaphorical—is just the start of a new path.
Here’s to the next adventure, and to all of you who’ve supported me through this one. 🚴💪 #IronmanTexas #Resilience #NewBeginnings
