Let's get going!

Now what's your name again?

I have been in the lab working hard on revamping this newsletter. Because honestly, Coffee Break didn't speak to what our collective needs right now. So I am very excited to introduce: Spark Yourself! 🎉(Enter whoops and shouts here)🎉.

Spark Yourself is where you'll find ideas, examples, templates, and commandments (wait did I say that?) that will ignite you to make your vision a reality.

In our newsletters you'll get round-ups on all of these topics, so head over to my substack where you can get more in-depth and exclusive deep dives into the topics we discuss.

Ehem... Now, welcome to this edition of our newsletter, where we're diving deep into the power of cultivating a culture of ownership and creative liberty.

But first, we're spotlighting a company that is getting culture right.

Bumble said to Make your First Move your Best Move

In this edition, we've landed on Bumble. Known for its unconventional approach to dating, Bumble has also made waves in the corporate world with its commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. From offering flexible work arrangements to prioritizing some out-of-the-box initiatives, Bumble serves as an inspiring example of how organizations can cultivate a culture of value.

Cultivating a Culture of Ownership and Creative Liberty 🌟

In today's fast-paced world, orchestrating an environment where every team member feels empowered to take ownership and unleash their creative potential is crucial for staying ahead of the curve.

Imagine a team where every member feels a profound sense of ownership over their work—a team where each individual is not just a cog in the machine but a driving force behind the organization's success. That's the power of ownership. When employees feel a genuine connection to their work and understand how their contributions directly impact the company's goals, they are more engaged, motivated, and committed to delivering their best.

As leaders, it's our responsibility to nurture this sense of ownership among our teams. We should create an environment where employees are empowered to make decisions, take risks, and take pride in their work. This requires a shift in mindset—from micromanagement to trust.

One of the most effective ways to do this is by granting your team members the freedom to explore, experiment, and express themselves without fear of judgment or reprisal. Encourage them to think outside the box, challenge the status quo, and pursue unconventional ideas.

Ready to empower your team and unleash their full potential? Dive deeper into our featured blog post, where we explore practical strategies for fostering a culture where every team member feels empowered to take ownership of their work and pursue their creative passions.

They Said What?!? 🤔

Did you hear that "DEI" is now being used as a slur?

To be fair, people leaders have heard whispers around corners about "DEI Hires" for ages. But now it's made the news with Baltimore's Mayor saying: “We know what these folks really want to say when they say DEI mayor,” he told The Banner. “But there is nothing they can do and say to me that is worse than the treatment of my ancestors. I am proud of who I am and where I come from.”

What say you?

On the Brighter Side

In other news, I just found this new tool, through Google Calendar, that's perfect for teams looking to supercharge their productivity. Reclaim is the smart(est) calendar app that optimizes everyone’s time for better productivity, collaboration, and work-life balance.

It helps you find the best time for productive heads-down work in your calendar (while keeping your schedule flexible for changes) — so you can get more done as a team every week. It also does other cool things like track your habits, automatically schedule your meetings, and protect against notification interruptions. Heck, it's almost as good as I am (flips hair).

It's free through Google, so I suggest you try it out!

💡One question you should ask your team this week:

  1. What has energized you in your role this past week?

Culture Creators that's it! It's Monday, so you know what that means. It's time to rock this week out!

-Onward,

Keosha
