UNLEASHING YOURSELF
Do you take pride in who you really are? As an effective leader, you must be yourself. Followers want to be led by a person, not a role holder or a position filler. These effective leaders are often shown to have slightly above average level of confidence. In other words, it is at least plausible that their self confidence arises from gradual exposure to successful leadership experiences.
While leading, it is quiet necessary to appreciate and understand individual differences and also know yourself as what differentiates you from the rest. Leaders use these traits to their advantage to bring a different style, proposition and perspective for followers to consider and be motivated about. The journey of self discovery has its roots in our origins- shaped as they are by such powerful forces as family, gender, locale and social class. Effective leaders are able to extract from these experiences a sense of self that they are comfortable with when working with internal and external stakeholders.
When leaders expose themselves, they often show weakness as well as strengths. But demonstrating strengths lends leaders legitimacy over an above their weakness. Being yourself helps you drive a clear vision of your perspective rather demonstrating a vision that is influenced by the environment around. Every person has their story and a style that can lead powerful proposition if used well with confidence. Its your leadership journey and has to be something different that you did rather than something similar you did as the rest. Make yourself visible from the mass and be confident of who you are.
