California as a Global Hydrogen Leader
California Awarded $1.2 Billion to Advance Clean Hydrogen Projects and Achieve a Net-Zero Carbon Economy
California has secured up to $1.2 billion from the DOE to lead the charge in clean energy projects and green job creation to achieve a net-zero carbon economy by 2045. This investment will drive the establishment of Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs, making California a pioneer in clean hydrogen production and infrastructure. Anticipated to produce three million metric tons of hydrogen annually, these hubs will significantly cut carbon emissions, equivalent to removing millions of cars from our roads yearly. Moreover, this initiative is projected to save nearly $3 billion in healthcare costs annually and create over 220,000 green jobs, propelling us towards a more sustainable future. Learn more.
The Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) to Lead California Market for Renewable Hydrogen
The Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) will capitalize on $1.2 billion of DOE Clean Hydrogen Hubs funding to accelerate California’s clean hydrogen market. Uniting 400 state-wide organizations, industry projects will prioritize decarbonizing ports, power, and heavy-duty transportation; implementing hydrogen fuel usage in aviation, maritime, and agriculture; making the cost of California hydrogen fuel cheaper than traditional fuels by 2030; and creating a national workforce development model.
