AI Services (NI) Ltd, a longstanding agricultural business in the Antrim & Newtownabbey borough, and not to be confused with the type of AI featured in this article, the company are known for Artificial Insemination services. Through sensor technology that aligns with both AI & ML, they’re embracing data-driven approaches to improving animal care and business efficiency. The company’s £3.5 million redevelopment reflects their commitment to using technology to drive business growth.
Through the Antrim & Newtownabbey borough council managed Digital Surge Programme, the feeder programme to DTFF, local businesses like SeeMe Ltd have been supported in exploring the potential of AI & Big Data. These council-supported initiatives are helping businesses transform how they operate, from streamlining processes to finding new ways to engage customers and optimise resources.
Allsop, a NI software company, have secured a substantial contract with a top European grocery distributor. Allsop’s AI-powered customer order management system is an industry game-changer, offering features that include:
Savvy & Shine, a hair care business based in Antrim, are pioneering hair care with AI technology thanks to support from the Digital Transformation Flexible Fund (DTFF). Grant funding will support the business in introducing an innovative AI-driven platform with advanced camera technology. The platform analyses hair and scalp health to recommend personalised hair care products. This cutting-edge AI application opens up new market opportunities, in an industry valued at approx. £1.4b in the UK alone, and supports job creation through AI technician roles. Additionally, the technology provides expansion routes into new sectors, positioning Savvy & Shine as a leader in AI-driven innovation in beauty care.
Local business AirPOS, a point-of-sale solution provider, enhances its service offering through its integration with companies like Shopify, stripe and xero, enabling users to tap into the power of AI-driven tools. This tech-ecosystem allows AirPOS customers to benefit from a range of AI powered tools including inventory management, accounting analytics, optimised customer checkouts, fraud prevention, customer engagement and many more. Recently AirPOS have been developing their own AI generated product, Cost Crunch. This new tool helps retailers with a factual representation of what they’re paying in card charges, on average this has shown to be up to x2 what customers believed they were paying!
While these are limited examples they’re not isolated references - more SMEs from multiple sectors in our borough and across NI are starting to recognise the potential of AI to unlock new opportunities and markets.

Antobot is transforming agriculture by integrating AI and robotics to enhance sustainability. Their autonomous robotic solutions help farmers optimise crop monitoring and management, reducing the need for chemical inputs while improving yield efficiency. The SolidWorks Start-Up programme has provided Antobot with access to affordable CAD software. With AI at its core, Antobot supports precision agriculture, promoting environmentally friendly practices and helps farmers respond to changing climate conditions.
