Unlocking the Power of a Partnership to Bridge the Digital Divide

Unlocking the Power of a Partnership to Bridge the Digital Divide

Insight President and CEO Joyce Mullen always says technology is our greatest resource for doing good, and I couldn’t agree more.

In an increasingly digital world, technology holds an immeasurable power to make a difference and change lives for the better. This is one of the aspects of working in the captivating and dynamic IT industry that I find particularly rewarding. I’m always excited to see how we can leverage technology to build a brighter future for the next generation. So I was happy to collaborate with the Women With Insight Miami chapter to help donate to local schools in need and local Boys and Girls Club.

There’s no denying that technology is essential in twenty-first-century education. From accessing online homework assignments and textbooks to collaborating with peers through document-sharing software, access to modern education technology directly affects the quality of learning experiences.

However, many students in underserved communities lack the devices in their homes needed for impactful learning — putting them at risk of falling behind their better-equipped peers.

Women With Insight, our teammate resource group dedicated to advancing unity, professional development and mentorship across the company, wanted to help close the gap.

We knew we could have a greater impact by teaming up with others who share our ambition. As the leading Solutions Integrator, Insight has deep and longstanding partnerships with the world’s top technology brands — many of which are always willing to link arms with us and support a good cause.

With help from our partners, Intel Corporation , Lenovo , D&H Distributing , CODi Worldwide , ScienceLogic and One Identity by Quest, we donated 78 laptops to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade and a Miami-area elementary school on May 31.

We provided 50 Intel-powered Lenovo laptops, paired with carrying cases, chargers and docking stations, plus a laptop locking and charging cart to the Boys & Girls Club.

Insight has a long-standing relationship with the Boys & Girls Club through our charitable giving program, Noble Cause. In 2022, we were honored for having more than 30 years of involvement with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley!

Of the 50 laptops donated to the Boys & Girls Club, 10 will be given to children whose families cannot afford to purchase their own. The gift of a laptop means those students will have access to I-Ready, an online study program for K-8 students.

Another 10 will be used for a pilot Teen Workforce Readiness Program at the Gwen Cherry Club. The rest will enable education at the Hank Kline and Dr. Frederica S. Wilson Clubs.

We also donated 28 new Asus laptops to Myrtle Grove K-8 Center, a Miami Gardens elementary school. The new equipment will serve as a much needed upgrade for school staff to help deliver education more effectively.

My colleague Carolyn Henry , vice president and general manager of Americas marketing at Intel Corporation , put it best when she said, “Through our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, aligned with Lenovo and Insight, we are committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable future. The Lenovo PCs powered by Intel technology that are being donated today will enable students to develop critical thinking, experiential discovery and skills needed for the technology-driven world.”

It’s amazing to see our Insight teammates continue to show heart in so many ways. I’m also extremely thankful to the partners I work with on a daily basis who never hesitate to say yes when we ask for help, whether working with a client undergoing a massive digital transformation or in contributing to the most Noble Cause of all: our children.

At Insight, we strive to make a positive impact for our people, clients and communities. We were thrilled to use our resources to help make our children’s future brighter.
