Unlocking Your Quantum Leap

Unlocking Your Quantum Leap

In the fast-paced world of sales and business, we often find ourselves searching for that elusive breakthrough – that moment when everything clicks and our results skyrocket. Today's, edition of Thinking into Sales Results is going to explore a powerful concept that can transform your career and business: the quantum leap. I want to help you undertsand how you can unlock your inner sales genius and achieve extraordinary results by shifting your focus and harnessing the power of your mind.

The Power of Focusing on Ends

One of the fundamental principles in achieving a quantum leap is to focus intently on the end result rather than getting caught up in the minutiae of the process. Price Pritchett, in his groundbreaking book "You²," challenges us to think differently about achievement. He suggests that when we fixate on the "how," we often limit ourselves to incremental improvements rather than breakthrough results.

Consider this: What if, instead of meticulously mapping out every step of your journey, you clearly envisioned your desired outcome and allowed your subconscious mind to guide you towards it? This doesn't mean abandoning planning altogether, but rather shifting your primary focus from the means to the end.

Pritchett argues that by concentrating on the destination, we open ourselves up to innovative solutions and unexpected opportunities that we might otherwise overlook. This approach encourages creative problem-solving and allows us to break free from conventional limitations.

For example, instead of obsessing over how to increase your sales calls by 10%, what if you focused on doubling your revenue? This shift in perspective might lead you to discover more efficient lead generation methods, develop higher-value offerings, or tap into entirely new markets.

The Transformative Power of Assumption

Complementing Pritchett's focus on ends, Neville Goddard introduces us to the powerful concept of assumption in his book, "The Power of Awareness." Goddard teaches that by assuming the feeling of our wish fulfilled, we can bring that reality into existence.

As Goddard eloquently puts it, "To assume a new concept of yourself is to that extent to change your world." This isn't mere positive thinking; it's a profound shift in your self-concept and your perception of what's possible.

When you truly believe in your ability to achieve something – when you assume the state of having already achieved it – you set in motion a series of events that align with that belief. Your actions, decisions, and even your subconscious behaviors begin to support your assumed reality.

For instance, if you assume the identity of a top-performing salesperson, you might find yourself naturally adopting the habits, mindset, and strategies of high achievers. You'll approach challenges with confidence, persist in the face of setbacks, and recognize opportunities that you might have previously overlooked.

This power of assumption isn't about denying current reality, but rather about choosing to live from the end result, allowing that vision to shape your present actions and attitudes.

A Personal Quantum Leap Experience

Let me share a personal story that illustrates these principles in action. Back in 2016, I achieved an Eagle award at Gartner, an honor bestowed upon only the top 1% of sales professionals. This wasn't just a minor improvement in my performance – it was a true quantum leap that transformed my career.

FY16 EAGLE AWARD ACHIEVER

At the time, I wasn't fully aware of how I had accomplished this feat, but looking back, I can see that I had unknowingly followed the key steps for a quantum leap:

  1. Burning Desire: I had an intense, unwavering desire to achieve the Eagle award. This wasn't just a fleeting wish; it was a deep-seated goal that drove my actions every day.
  2. Vivid Visualization: I spent time each day visualizing what it would feel like to receive the award. I imagined the pride in my voice as I called my family to share the news, the weight of the trophy in my hands, and the congratulations from my colleagues. This wasn't just daydreaming – it was a deliberate practice of assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled.
  3. Focus on the End: Instead of getting bogged down in the day-to-day metrics, I kept my focus on the end goal. Yes, I tracked my numbers, but my primary focus was on being the kind of salesperson who would achieve Eagle status.
  4. Flexible Approach: While I had a high-level plan, I remained open to new strategies and opportunities. This flexibility allowed me to pivot quickly when certain approaches weren't working and to capitalize on unexpected leads or market shifts.
  5. Unwavering Faith: Perhaps most importantly, I had an unshakeable belief in my ability to achieve this goal. Even during tough months or after lost deals, I maintained the assumption that I was on the path to Eagle status.

This experience taught me the power of combining a clear vision with unwavering belief. It wasn't about working longer hours or pushing harder in the traditional sense. Instead, it was about aligning my entire being – my thoughts, feelings, and actions – with the goal I wanted to achieve.

Your Path to a Quantum Leap

Now, it's your turn to unlock your potential and make your own quantum leap. Here are the steps you can take, along with some practical strategies to implement them:

  1. Define Your Burning Desire: What is the one goal that ignites a fire within you? This should be something that excites you, something that you're willing to commit to wholeheartedly. Take time to reflect and write down your goal in specific, measurable terms. For example, instead of "increase sales," your goal might be "double my monthly revenue to $100,000 within the next 12 months."
  2. Visualize Success: Create a vivid mental image of your success. What does it look like? How does it feel? What do you hear people saying? Make this visualization a daily practice. Spend at least 5-10 minutes each morning and evening immersing yourself in this vision. You might even create a vision board with images and words that represent your goal.
  3. Focus on the End: Keep your eyes on the prize. Don't get caught up in the "how" – trust that the path will reveal itself. Regularly remind yourself of your end goal. Set it as your phone background, put sticky notes on your mirror, or create a mantra that embodies your goal. When faced with decisions, ask yourself, "Will this bring me closer to my goal?"
  4. Maintain Unwavering Faith: Believe in yourself and your ability to achieve your goal. Act as if it's already a done deal. This might feel challenging at first, but with practice, it becomes more natural. Surround yourself with supportive people who believe in you. Read success stories of others in your field who have achieved similar goals.
  5. Assume the Feeling: Live each day as if you've already achieved your goal. How would you carry yourself? What decisions would you make? This might involve dressing the part, speaking with the confidence of someone who has already achieved the goal, or making decisions from the perspective of your future successful self.
  6. Take Inspired Action: While focusing on the end, remain open to opportunities and take action when your intuition guides you. This doesn't mean sitting back and waiting for success to fall into your lap. Instead, it means being attuned to opportunities that align with your goal and acting on them promptly. This could involve reaching out to new potential clients, investing in personal development, or exploring innovative strategies in your field.
  7. Stay Flexible: Be prepared to adjust your course as needed, always keeping your ultimate goal in mind. The path to your quantum leap may not be linear. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and be willing to try new approaches. Regularly review your progress and be honest about what's working and what isn't. Don't be afraid to pivot or try unconventional methods if they feel aligned with your end goal.

Remember, a quantum leap isn't about working harder in the traditional sense or following a rigid plan. It's about shifting your mindset, aligning your energy with your goals, and allowing yourself to break free from limiting beliefs. It's about making a fundamental change in how you perceive yourself and your capabilities.

This process requires patience and persistence. You may not see results immediately, but trust in the process. Continue to hold your vision, maintain your assumption of success, and take inspired action. Often, quantum leaps happen when we least expect them – not as a result of a single action, but as the culmination of consistent alignment with our goals.

As you embark on this journey, remember that setbacks are not failures – they're opportunities for learning and realignment. Each challenge you face is a chance to strengthen your resolve and refine your approach.

Trust in your innate abilities and the power of your mind. You have greatness within you, waiting to be unleashed. Believe in yourself, focus on your desired outcome, and watch as extraordinary results unfold in your life and business.

Here's to your quantum leap and the incredible success that awaits you! Remember, you're not just working towards a goal – you're stepping into a new version of yourself. Embrace this journey of transformation, and let your inner sales genius shine.

Your future self is already celebrating your success. It's time for you to join in that celebration and make your quantum leap a reality!
