To everyone's regret, as previously announced our GD2024 conference will not be held on the originally planned dates.

Together with our partners SERNATUR Magallanes and the Regional Government of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, we are in the final stages of rescheduling the conference for December 2024 - we can't wait to announce the new dates shortly!

We understand that this change has caused inconvenience or more, and on behalf of the organising team, we sincerely apologise for any disruption to your planning.

Our journey began with an enlightening session focusing on Chile 🇨🇱 titled, “Claves para avanzar en la gestión sostenible de destinos (Chile)”. Hosted by Felipe Omar Vera Soto , Vice-President and Green Destinations Representative in Chile, the session featured contributions from Víctor Róman León of SERNATUR Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, Franco Rojas Carreño of Gobernanza Turística Arica Siempre Activa, and Marcela Godoy Espinoza of Programa de Turismo de Montaña Ojos del Salado delved into the nuances of participatory governance. Their expertise highlighted the vital importance of sustainable and responsible management practices that enrich communities, preserve heritage, and bolster economies.

🌿 Exploring comprehensive destination management

Following on, our second webinar was “Claves para avanzar en la gestión sostenible de destinos (Perú 🇵🇪 y Bolivia 🇧🇴).” Hosted by Paola Cairampoma , Green Destinations Representative in Peru, and Verónica Zambrana Ríos , Green Destinations Representative in Bolivia, the session featured insights from Karla Ibette Tito Ramos of Parque Nacional Tingo María, Anali Bendezú Vásquez of Reserva Nacional Islas Cavinzas e Islotes Palomino, and Maritza La Torre Vásquez of Rurrenabaque Madidi Pampas. Their discussions offered profound insights into the unique challenges and strategies necessary for achieving sustainable tourism governance in Peru and Bolivia.

Our most recent webinar, “Gestión integral de los destinos mediante certificación para revalorar la identidad local”, was led by Beatriz Barreal , Founder of Riviera Maya Sostenible ONG and GD Partner in México. The event saw contributions from contributions from Alex Farlander 🌏 of TRAVELHOOD, Enrique Dominguez M of SADHU Blissful Living, and Lucelly Ramos of Gestión Ambiental y Cambio Climático, Solidaridad, Playa del Carmen. The session provided a deep dive into the role of certifications in reinforcing local identity and promoting sustainable practices that support both people and the planet.
