Pre-Conference Workshops at the TAUS Massively Multilingual AI Conference

At the TAUS Massively Multilingual AI Conference in Albuquerque, NM on 2 October we are offering two specialized workshops that will equip you with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to stay ahead in our rapidly evolving industry.

Morning Workshop: GenAI in Localization

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

This workshop equips localization professionals with the knowledge and hands-on skills to build and optimize generative AI pipelines for multilingual content. Prepare to learn practical strategies for prompt engineering, data preparation, and system design.

Speakers:

Hands-On Workshop: You’ll work in teams to build your own GenAI pipeline for multilingual content.

This interactive session will cover quality management, automated post-editing, style guide compliance, and more. It’s an excellent opportunity to fine-tune your skills, exchange ideas, and network with peers.

What will you learn?

You will learn various ways to apply GenAI in localization, focusing on how to enhance content pipelines with greater accuracy and efficiency.

You will also gain insights into the optimal timing for involving your software developers and how to effectively task them to build systems that support the implementation of AI-driven solutions.

Key skills you will develop include prompt engineering and optimization, the ability to design retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and the methodology for successfully piloting and onboarding generative AI solutions.

Afternoon Workshop: Quality Estimation

Time: 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM

In the afternoon, we shift focus to Quality Estimation (QE) – a critical aspect of ensuring excellence in translation workflows.

The sessions, hosted by Amir Kamran , Lahorka Nikolovski , Jaap Van Der Meer and Zachary Haynes from TAUS , are perfect for those looking to deepen their understanding of QE and its applications and/or looking to integrate advanced quality estimation (QE) techniques into their workflows.

  • Deep Dive into QE: We’ll start by demystifying QE, exploring its mechanics, best use cases, and the benefits it can bring to your workflow. Learn about the models and scoring metrics that drive QE and gain insights into their reliability and limitations.
  • Real-World Applications: Discover how QE can revolutionize your translation process through customer use cases from Straker and BLEND Localization . You’ll also witness a live demonstration of QE in action, using the TAUS Estimate API, and see how it can be integrated with Automated Post Editing (APE) to further optimize quality.
  • LLMs and QE: As Large Language Models (LLMs) continue to evolve, their role in QE becomes increasingly important. We’ll explore the potential of LLMs to enhance QE models and compare them with traditional approaches.
  • Getting Started with QE: The workshop concludes with practical guidance on how to integrate and customize QE into your existing workflows. You’ll leave equipped with the knowledge needed to implement and fine-tune QE models to your specific needs.

What will you learn?

Participants will gain a deep understanding of how QE models work, their practical applications, and how to effectively use them to enhance translation accuracy and efficiency. You’ll explore real-world use cases, learn how to set up and customize QE models, and discover the role of large language models (LLMs) in advancing QE.

By the end of this workshop, you'll have the skills to implement QE into your existing processes, customize models for specific needs, and integrate QE with Automated Post Editing (APE) to optimize translation quality.
