USA Triathlon Announces 2024 State Championships Calendar

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon today unveiled the dates and locations for the 2024 USA Triathlon State Championships, a robust calendar of local, USA Triathlon sanctioned events across the United State that give athletes around the country the opportunity to race for state titles and qualify for the USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint Distance National Championships.

State Championships are open to all triathletes, as no qualification is required to compete. Each State Championship offers a variety of short-course distances from super-sprint to sprint-distance to Olympic-distance, with some events featuring multiple distance options. The top athletes per age group will be crowned state champions.

In addition to racing for state titles, athletes racing at State Championships will also have increased odds to qualify for the USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships, the annual event that requires qualification and brings together the best U.S. age group triathletes in the Sprint- and Olympic-distance. State Championships will qualify the top 35 percent, or top five finishers in their age group (whichever is greater) for the 2024 or 2025 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint Distance National Championships. Normal qualification criteria is the top two, or 15 percent of an athlete’s age group (whichever is greater).

State Championships held after June 1, 2024 will qualify athletes for both the 2024 and 2025 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships. The 2024 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships are scheduled for Sept. 13-15 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
