[UNRAVEL] Salesforce Capstone: First Task

✅The First Task of this project is to create a Developer Org & Create the Custom Profiles:

As we discover the rest of the objectives of the Salesforce Admin Exam, we will also practice those concepts while building this mini capstone. Think of it as a fun way to put all that Salesforce Admin stuff you've been learning into action - starting with Configuration & Setup!

You'll be playing around with a special Salesforce app made for our sandwich business called "Deli Delight."

We're talking order management, keeping tabs on ingredients, and keeping up with our sandwich-loving customers. Get ready to explore things like custom objects, how things relate in the system, tweaking the user look and feel, some cool automation tricks, and making sense of it all with reports.

This Mini Capstone breaks down the project into chunks called "Epics," -- focusing on a different aspect of the Sandwich Shop App. And guess what? Each Epic has its own "User Stories" set - mini-tasks or goals we want to hit.

Through these, you'll touch on many Salesforce topics and get some real hands-on experience, all while setting up this great app for our pretend sandwich world.

Ready to make some virtual sandwiches? Let's do this! 🥪💻

Here's a brief overview of what you'll be doing:

  1. Sandwich Catalog: In the Sandwich custom object, you'll manage the descriptions, ingredients, prices, and images of the sandwiches.
  2. Order Management: With the Order and OrderItem junction objects, you'll let users create, update, and manage orders for customers.
  3. Inventory Management: All ingredients will be tracked and reorder thresholds will be set using the InventoryItem custom object.
  4. Price Calculation: You'll automate the price calculation based on sandwich prices and quantities by adding a formula field to the OrderItem object and a roll-up summary field to the Order object.
  5. Reporting and Dashboards: You'll develop custom reports and dashboards to track sales, popular sandwiches, inventory levels, and restocking needs. This will involve using Salesforce's reporting and dashboard functionality.
  6. Customer Management: You'll use Salesforce Contacts to store customer information, preferences, and order history. This will involve managing records in the standard Contact object.
  7. Flow Automation: With Flows, you'll set up automated flows to send notifications about low inventory levels, sum up sales, and update order status.

Get ready to put your Salesforce skills into action and enjoy your journey in building this Sandwich Shop application. Good luck!

[UNRAVEL] THE CASE STUDY:

💼Background

So, this sandwich joint in San Francisco called "Deli Delight" was struggling to track all their orders and inventory. They knew they needed a better system to handle their growing biz. That's when the owner decided to give Salesforce, the top CRM platform in the world, a try.

The goal was to make things easier by simplifying the order process, tracking inventory, and managing customers. Plus, they'd get some sweet insights into their biz through reporting and dashboards.

⚠️Challenges

  • Inefficient order management leads to waiting times for customers longer
  • Lack of real-time inventory visibility leads to overstocking or running out of ingredients
  • Inability to analyze sales data to make informed business decisions
  • No centralized system to maintain and leverage customer data

🥇Solution

"Deli Delight" implemented the custom Sandwich Shop Salesforce app:

  • The app enabled efficient order management, allowing shop employees to quickly input orders, update their status, and automatically calculate total prices
  • It also provided real-time inventory tracking, with automated notifications for low inventory levels and restocking needs
  • With a centralized system for customer data, the shop could now personalize customer interactions based on past preferences
  • Custom reports and dashboards provided valuable insights into sales trends, popular sandwiches, and inventory levels

📈Results

  • Order management became more streamlined, reducing wait times and improving customer satisfaction
  • Efficient inventory management led to a 20% reduction in overstocking and waste, saving costs and ensuring fresh ingredients for sandwiches
  • Sales reports helped identify the best-selling sandwiches, leading to better menu planning and a 15% increase in sales
  • The shop could run targeted promotions with centralized customer data, improving customer loyalty and repeat business

🎯The End Result

Deli Delight's operations and profitability got a lot better after using the Sandwich Shop Salesforce app. In this case, Salesforce apps help small businesses address unique needs and drive success, demonstrating how Salesforce can be used to leverage Salesforce for small businesses.

💭🤔FINAL THOUGHTS:

I post these snippets every week to help people expand their Salesforce knowledge with a particular focus on the Admin Exam.

As part of our mini capstone project, we'll have the chance to put these concepts into practice and strengthen them.

As someone who learns best through visual aids and hands-on activities, I am a firm believer in learning by doing, and I am enthusiastic about facilitating this kind of active and engaging learning experience for others.

Looking forward to how we can make sandwiches together with the future snippets! 🥪
