The Value of LinkedIn Writing: Alexander Nguyen's Inspiring Journey
Two recent articles caught my attention, each showcasing the remarkable impact that writing on LinkedIn had for their authors.
Both approached LinkedIn differently and for unique purposes, yet their experiences were so inspiring that I wanted to share them with you.
Alexander Nguyen’s 100-Day ChallengeThe first story is about Alexander Nguyen, a young software engineer seeking employment. Inspired by the book The Power of Habit, Alexander decided to challenge himself: write posts on LinkedIn for 100 consecutive days.
He chose LinkedIn because it felt like a space where nobody knew him — a place to start fresh and try something new.
Alexander’s journey unfolded in three key stages:
1. Starting with Fear and Uncertainty: Alexander's first post announced his 100-day challenge. However, he soon faced the common struggle: What should I write about? He also battled the fear of clicking the “post” button. Over time, this fear faded, and posting became easier.
2. Finding His Voice: Initially, Alexander shared his challenges of job hunting, unaware that this was a relatable and valuable topic for many on LinkedIn. He later shifted his focus, writing about what he was learning in computer science. To his surprise, this change resonated deeply with his audience, and his following grew. Recruiters started reaching out, offering interviews with major tech companies—all without seeing his résumé.
3. Discovering the Power of Personal Branding: In the last stretch of his challenge, Alexander felt pressure to outperform his previous posts. Despite the emotional ups and downs, he discovered that writing consistently about his field not only showcased his expertise but also built his personal brand.
One insight stood out:

The Value for You
Alexander’s journey is a powerful reminder of LinkedIn's potential. Writing about your skills, values, beliefs, or even personal challenges can open unexpected doors.
While you don’t need to commit to a 100-day challenge, understanding the value of consistently sharing your perspective can make a significant difference in your career.
Alexander’s story also touches on the importance of building a personal brand — an essential topic for anyone navigating the professional world.
