Because, Veneers are Lathes too ...

Did you know that Premier Gear & Machine Works has been a permanent fixture in the woodworking industry for over 80 years? We have engineered and made thousands of lathes, parts and components for companies throughout the world. We have records of every machine we've assembled, every part we've sent and information readily available that allows us to help with our own equipment as well as others we've worked with or repaired over the years? We have employees who travel all over the world, helping to install either new or existing equipment and we will continue to offer that support long after the machine has been in operation.

Did you know that I had no idea what a 'Veneer Lathe' was until I arrived here. I thought it had something to do with calipers or a measuring device?

Did you know that my mother is naturally blonde which means I am genetically predisposed to actions and behaviors typically associated with having that hair color? Therefore, it's not my fault. I'm genetically cursed.

However, one should never let a lack of pigmentation of a hair follicle, whether it be your own or residing on your nearest family members cranium, determine your fate. Instead, view it as an opportunity to strive on learning ways to overcome genetic adversity. Seek and you shall find.

And look what I found ...

Ha! I saw this post and it sure brings back memories! I worked at Gladstone Machine for 18 years and made ALOT of veneer lathe parts and other parts for Premier Gear & Machine Works, Inc.

I worked with field representatives from Premier for 20 years in my veneer days and found them to be top shelf. A wealth of knowledge. Thanks guys for all the help over the years. I now work in Pulp and Paper so you need to build me a better mouse trap. Thanks again!

Thank you Grant, I appreciate that. This is really an area/division of Premier Gear that I've only begun to understand and it will likely be years before I really grasp the general concept of how a Veneer Lathe works. I can assist with making the components, but the assembly is an entirely new ball game. Thankfully, Russ Cole just happens to be a Veneer Lathe smarty pants. So, I will just ride on his woodworking coattail for awhile. Ha, ha ...
