Innovation This Week: Here are a few important deadline extensions to keep on your radar. ✏️

Important Updates and a Deadline Extension

This has already been an action-packed fall semester, and we’re only just getting started. Here are all of our opportunities coming up in the next few weeks, including a look ahead at our new conference.

Expanding Care Options—and Company Spaces—for Spine Patients

This month, medtech startup CurveAssure completed the setup of a brand new motion capture lab at Towson University StarTUp in Towson, Maryland. There, the team plans to validate their product and further develop their invention: a wearable at-home spinal assessment system. Specifically designed to deliver spine patients more personalized care, the device provides doctors and users with comprehensive data to make informed treatment decisions. Since 2022, CurveAssure has progressed through the VentureWell Accelerator, where the team learned about the importance of securing rights to their innovation. Since it’s Intellectual Property (IP) Month, read how they navigated the process of IP, and how dedicated support has accelerated their growth.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Energy Retrofits Across the Nation

Climatetech company ThermoVerse was recently awarded Phase 2 of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory American-Made Lab MATCH Prize to support their efforts reducing thermal energy demand through energy retrofits. Their invention, cost-effective heating and cooling energy retrofits for low-to-middle-income housing property managers, is enabling energy-efficient building upgrades—without the need to open up walls. ThermoVerse completed the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps™ program as well as our Aspire Medtech and Ascend Mobility Accelerator. We spoke with the team about how leveraging mentorship opportunities can have a big impact on building a climatetech startup.
