Verity Rapid Delivery Team
Overview
Our Verity Transformation team is dedicated to delivering value to our clients and adapting to their evolving needs, helping businesses achieve their strategic goals. So, when we were approached to provide a rapid delivery team for one of our clients, we eagerly embraced the challenge.
Context
Our client needed a team of transformation specialists that could take ownership of the delivery of a number of high value business initiatives. This team would need to consist of consultants who could work across multi disciplines and where our focus on E-shaped people was an advantage.
Business Challenge
The client had been struggling with prioritising these important smaller-sized pieces of work against the “Big Rocks” that always take precedence in whichever organisation we work. The business units were losing faith in the IT department because of the lack of delivery of these items and the limited engagement caused by resource constraints.
Solution
Verity proposed to provide a team that would be integrated into, and act on behalf of the client, to deliver this pipeline of work at pace.

The team was made up of Verity consultants across the identified disciplines, with the flexibility to bring in different skills and expertise into the squad as required. The team would work collaboratively with the client’s permanent staff, and if appropriate, the team construct would include a blend of the client and Verity people.
We worked closely with our client to provide the right resources for a successful business outcome as well as good team fit for their existing team.
Outcome
There were some hurdles to overcome when we first started, which included how the team was accepted from the outset and how we gained the confidence of the business users, which the team handled in their stride.
Our first goal was to remove the bottleneck in the analysis phase. This itself had a number of obstacles, from the availability of resources to assist in this process to the busy IT team working on “Big Rocks” and BAU priorities.
The team managed this by working on several concurrent items from the backlog and prioritising these as the resources became available. As expected, once this bottleneck was removed, further bottlenecks were identified that needed work, but the team worked alongside the client to overcome these. Over 12 months into this work, the team has become an integral part of successful delivery of these initiatives.
We also took this opportunity to upskill our team members that were a part of this squad. This took the form of internal training / coaching / mentoring from other disciplines (agile and testing) as well as our BA utilising the knowledge of the Project Manager they were working alongside.
When we reflect on the work we have done and are still doing 12 months on, we see a clear link between this work and our values of People, Relationships, Unity and Oneness and Open Communication
Fantastic work - well done everyone!
