Veterans Make Us a Better Company, We Salute Those Who Serve
Tomorrow, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we commemorate the 99th anniversary of the end of World War I. Now officially known as Veterans Day, it is a day dedicated to celebrating peace and all Veterans.
In 1919, on the first anniversary of the Armistice, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson wrote in a message to the country, “The war showed us the strength of great nations acting together for high purposes, and the victory of arms foretells the enduring conquests which can be made in peace when nations act justly and in furtherance of the common interests of men.”
Throughout the next century, our nation’s military, and the Veterans who fill its ranks, defended our Constitution and the ideals it embodies, liberty, unity and a commitment to the common good. In the spirit of these founding principles, Starbucks strives to redefine the role and responsibility of a publicly traded company. To be performance driven through the lens of humanity, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard and never compromise our core values.
From all walks of life and every corner of the country, Veterans represent the diversity of America. Teamwork, courage, integrity, respect and unwavering commitment to excellence in all things are hallmarks not only of our company, but also of our nation’s Veterans. This is why we have hired over 10,000 Veterans and Military Spouses since 2013 and will hire 25,000 by 2025, simply put, they make our company better.
Today, we join the nation in saluting those who have served in our Armed Forces and we remain committed to honoring their service –and that of their spouses, children and families– on Veterans Day, and every day.
