VHA Home HealthCare Wins for Best NFP Communications Team!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

VHA Wins Communications Department of the Year

May 19, 2016 – TORONTO, ON – VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) has been awarded the 2016 Ovation Award of Distinction for Non-Profit Communications Department of the Year by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) – Toronto. The prestigious Ovation Awards celebrate excellence in communications and recognize extraordinary talent and the power to capture people’s attention, imagination and hearts. The Award of Distinction is given in one of six categories to entrants with the highest combination of “Award of Excellence” and “Award of Merit” scores from the judges.

VHA also received an Award of Merit with collaborators Flashframe Digital Media in the Audio/Visual category for a video series profiling the winners of VHA’s 2015 Heart of Home Care Award.

“It is a great honour to be recognized by the IABC and one that I think the team truly deserves,” says Carol Annett, president and CEO of VHA Home HealthCare. “Our communications team continually strives to tell VHA’s story and those of our clients in creative, compelling and sensitive ways. Whether it’s in internal messages or external publications, they consistently deliver impact and engage the audience.”

Pamela Stoikopoulos, senior communications and public relations manager for VHA, leads the winning team, which includes Christina Zimmermann, communications specialist, and Damminda Amarasingha, web and intranet administrator. The team also regularly supports communications and public relations interns.

“I’m delighted by this recognition. The IABC’s Ovation award is the measure of excellence in our field in Toronto,” says Stoikopoulos. “We are a small team but we accomplish a lot because it’s all truly a collaboration. We’re always pushing each other for new ideas and supporting one another to create materials that are faithful to VHA’s mission and vision. This honour is even more meaningful to me because it recognizes the amazing people I get to work with every day.”

The Ovation Award winners were announced at a gala event on May 18 at the Sheraton Centre Hotel.
