VHPA AVIATOR Magazine Review of BLADES OF THUNDER Book is a Five-Star and is in the Sep-Oct Issue

A terrific review of the award-winning, popular, non-fiction, military history, and action book, BLADES OF THUNDER (Book One) was recently published, in Issue 39-05-September-October 2020, of The Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association (VHPA) AVIATOR magazine.

The book was written by W. Larry Dandridge to help raise $$$$ for Fisher House Charleston, which is a free comfort home for the families of the inpatients in the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. Thus far, the book sales and Larry's meet-the-author events (speeches) have raised more than $70,000.00 for Fisher House Charleston, SC. Larry is the volunteer Ambassador of Good Will for Fisher House Charleston and the Friends of Fisher House Charleston, and he is a Patient Adviser at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.

The five-star review was written by Author Marc Liebman. Marc Liebman is the author of many fine books including Cherubs 2, Big Mother 40, Render Harmless, Forgotten, and more. Here is a copy of the review:

Book Review By Author Marc Liebman. The first chapter, “Going Down,” sets the stage for a gritty, detailed, and well told book about LTC Dandridge’s tour in Vietnam that almost killed him, yet he persevered and retired from the Army. Blades of Thunder (Book One), the story of six men (Army Aviators) who served in Vietnam and what happened to them. It isn’t pretty, but in many ways typical of Army Aviators and their air crewmen who flew during that war. At times, the stories in the book will make your stomach churn, but they are all worth reading. There are several appendices at the end of the book and “Appendix D – Lessons Learned and Lessons Perhaps Not Learned” is my all-time favorite. Every Vietnam Veteran can probably add to this list. The book was written for one of the noblest causes we can support, raising money for veterans (Fisher House Charleston) who need help after their service. My hat’s off to Larry for writing a great book that EVERYONE should buy and read, whether or not they served in the military because their purchase, will in a small way, help our fellow veterans in need.

BLADES OF THUNDER (Book One) award winning paperback and hardback versions have over 185 five-star reviews on AMAZON, on GOOD READS, in ARMY AVIATION Magazine, in AVIATOR Magazine, in the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) VETERANS Magazine, in the TIGER GAZETTE, in The VHPA AVIATOR Magazine, by the Sr. Editor of the CHARLESTON MERCURY Newspaper, by the Sr. History Editor of ARCADIA, on WALMART’s Website, and at many, many other sites.

Many readers have said that the book should be made into a movie or mini-series and they have described chapter two as the best short course ever written on leadership. The book has also served as a catyst to help raise more than $5.5 million dollars to buy the land that Fisher House Charleston was built on and to refurbish the old carriage house behind the Charleston Fisher House.
