Vision Senegal 2050: An ambitious plan for digital transformation and sustainable development.

On October 14, 2024, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the President of the Republic of Senegal, presented Vision Sénégal 2050, an ambitious development plan designed to guarantee the country's economic independence, social justice, and sustainable prosperity.

The program is based on four strategic axes: a competitive economy, strengthening human capital, sustainable development, and exemplary governance. President Faye emphasized that this plan, which calls for investments of 18,500 billion FCFA over 2025-2029, represents an ambitious roadmap for transforming Senegal.

Welcomed positively by many experts, this project offers numerous opportunities for digital transformation.

It focuses on the emergence of a digital society and creating a competitive economy, supported by modern infrastructures and a stable macroeconomic framework. One of the key objectives is to reduce economic concentration in Dakar by developing eight new economic hubs across the country.

These clusters will benefit from digital development corridors, modernized industrial zones, and an economy based on high-value-added services. Digitization will play a crucial role in this more equitable distribution of growth across the national territory, facilitating better integration of the regions.

As part of this strategy, digital transformation and digital technologies’ implementation will play a central role. The use of cloud-based solutions, artificial intelligence, and real-time data management will be encouraged, enabling infrastructure and services to be optimized while reducing environmental impact. Digital technologies, coupled with energy efficiency and renewable energy such as solar, wind, and biogas, will help meet the country's growing needs while ensuring sustainable resource management.
