VOICE SEARCH SEO IS THE FUTURE

VOICE SEARCH SEO IS THE FUTURE

SEO is all about being ahead of your competitors and optimising your site for voice SEO is the next big thing. Not since the launch of Google and the subsequent widespread adoption of smart phones has there been such a meteoric shift in how we interact and search the web. A survey of 39 SEO’s experts listed “voice search” third in a list of the largest SEO trends for 2017 and beyond.

Google’s principal engineer at Google Zurich recently reported that at this moment in time already 55% of teenagers and 41% of adults are already using voice search on a daily basis, and this number is only growing.

“Two years ago, the word error rate on speech recognition was well over 20%, this has now dropped to as low as 8%. Tools such as Siri, Google, Amazon’s Alexa and Microsoft’s Cortana are making huge development gains… and improving the way we can search on our devices, and more importantly changing the SEO industry when it comes to optimising their business search.” – Prashant Thakkar : Head of SEM

As consumers, we search differently when using our voice compared to when we use a search box. If we were to search the weather in London, when using a keyboard we are more likely to search ‘’Weather London’’. But if we were to use our voice we would use full sentences such as ‘’What’s the weather like in London?’’ when using our voice we are more inclined to use words such as Who, What, Where, When and How, which provides us more accurate results for our searches.

How can your company benefit from this trend?

  1. Start by researching the most common questions asked by your target audience.
  2. Search the common questions, keywords and compare to where you rank.
  3. Create content that answers the questions that are asked by your audience.

What are the benefits of adjusting to voice search?

Planning to optimise your website, blogs, and media pages with new information in the right structure can massively help your companies content get noticed over your competitors in order to drive more traffic to your website.

This is a trend that is still growing, but it’s important to start adjusting your strategies now so you can benefit from an advantage compared to your slower adapting rivals, and evolve as time goes by.
