Waterman strengthens Structures Board with double addition

We are delighted that Helen Blacker and Huseyin Hussein have both been promoted to Board Director which sees them join our Structures Board. Reflecting their outstanding contribution to the ongoing growth and success of our Structures team, Helen and Huseyin will add their wide-ranging industry knowledge and extensive leadership skills to our existing Structures Board.

 A Chartered Engineer based in our London office, Helen has over 15 years’ experience in civil and structural engineering design. With particular expertise in collaborative working practices, organisational and supervisory skills, Helen has a wealth of industry knowledge and experience. Throughout her career, she has delivered sustainability-focused construction solutions, due-diligence expertise, feasibility appraisals, value engineering and structural designs across the commercial, masterplanning, healthcare, education, and residential sectors. Her project portfolio spans both new and refurbishment projects, and incudes major recent London-based schemes such as The Northcliffe, Cleveland Clinic at 33 Grosvenor Place, 7 Old Park Lane and Bargehouse. Passionate about supporting the next generation of engineers, Helen is a registered Ambassador for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and The Science and Engineering Council and is also a member of the Construction Excellence – G4C Board.

With over 15 years’ experience at Waterman, Huseyin has amassed considerable expertise in the delivery of multi-million-pound, mixed-use and regeneration projects across the UK. A Chartered Civil Engineer based in our London office, Huseyin’s wealth of experience ranges from complex refurbishments and alteration schemes through to large mixed use, urban regeneration redevelopments, with project highlights including Victoria Gate Hotel in Leeds, Westgate Oxford and the Brent Cross regeneration in London. Huseyin is a keen advocate of off-site manufacturing systems and continues to contribute to DFMA design innovation with other industry leaders. A member of the ICE Training Scheme, he actively supports the development of young engineers as a mentor, guiding them on their journey to achieving professional qualifications. In addition, Huseyin continues to promote engineering amongst university students through Constructionarium and University College London’s student mentoring scheme.

Helen and Huseyin will join Richard Whitehead , Mike Broderick , Andrew Harrison , Charlie Scott , Joe Smith and Alun R. on the Structures Board and they will work together to lead the operational management and forward growth of the business.

Barry Dobbins , a Structures Board Director, is leaving Waterman on 19th October 2022 to pursue other life goals he wants to accomplish.
