Wave of the Future
Can you believe that we live in a world with AI? I would never have thought that the world of Dentistry would find AI to be so useful, but when I heard about what DentScribe is doing for doctors and hygienists, I was blown away.
Have you ever struggled to find the time to complete chart notes for your office? How much money have you paid to assistants and other team members to fill out templates or to take notes for you on some very complicated cases? How many times have you looked at those notes and thought, "I'm going to have to fix this. There is missing or wrong information here." I work with doctors who have great teams all over the United States, and this is the conversation.
So why has it taken so long to solve this problem? While dictation devices and other apps can help to record a conversation, the problem is that now you have to sort through all the data which is as time consuming or more than the original appointment was. I heard a great Ted Talk once where the presenter explained, Technology works best when you don't even know it's there. This could not be more true. You don't worry about lights until the stop working. You don't worry about the tires on your car until they become flat. Good technology is useful to solve real problems. Sadly, not every piece of technology checks the box.

If you haven't checked out, DentScribe.ai, do it now. This young tech company was founded by a dentist who has a practical solution to a real problem. Designed with a team of dentists across the nation, DentScribe delivers a product that is not only useful to doctors, but to hygienists as well.
Imagine walking into your op and talking to all of your patients just like you are right now, while a note is being created with all of the tooth numbers you mentioned, proposed treatments, existing conditions, the patient's chief complaints and a detailed copy that goes straight into your practice software. This is what DentScribe is doing. Currently it is compatible with EagleSoft, Dentrix and Open Dental, but a time is coming soon when it will be available to more, according to the founder.
Why do I like this? For years I have been a believer in maximizing the efficiency of time. Any time you have spend thinking, or reworking a task that has already been done, you know you need a better system. Notes, although extremely important should not be time consuming and costly. Who has the mental capability and the time to remember it all. If an AI can make my coffee or drive my car, why shouldn't it take my notes and catch all my important conversations with patients. Kudos to DentScribe for taking on this task and creating a HIPPA compliant product that brings value to dentistry.
