Tell us more about the career path that led you to Favor.
I originally went to college at Texas A&M University-Commerce to study music and, after two years, decided I wasn't cut out for a career in education. Teaching band just wasn't for me and required a level of patience and commitment I wasn't ready for at that moment in time. After those two years, I transferred to Texas State, graduated with a degree in Communication Studies, and got a job as a bank teller for one of the big banks in Texas. I met my girlfriend (now wife) in San Marcos and we lived in Austin for a bit before settling in Savannah, Georgia where I continued on as a lead teller while she got her master's degree.
When we moved back to Austin, I made the choice to switch fields and applied for jobs all around town. After a brief search, my wife sent me a listing for a customer support position at Favor. At the time, I had only used Favor in Charlotte, North Carolina when we were evacuating from one of the many hurricanes out there, so I was familiar with the company when they came through during a tough time. The interview process was such a breath of fresh air and the team members I chatted with that day were so relaxed and open to getting to know me that I knew I had found my home.
What was your dream job as a kid?
I wanted to be a rockstar! I mean, I obviously still think that'd be rad, but I haven't found a band destined for stardom that needs a tuba player. One can dream! 🎸🤘
How has your journey been within the Support department at Favor?
Exciting! There's been so much growth and opportunity in the short three and a half years that I've been here. The people I work with are so dedicated to our customers, Runners, and merchants, and they inspire me to do my best every day.

What energizes you outside of work?
Currently, it's housework! 🏡We recently bought a home in Lockhart and it has been so rewarding updating it from its tired, 80s vibe. Why was everything brown?
What advice would you give to someone who wants to advance their career in the tech industry, specifically in a support role?
When I get the pleasure of meeting with our new hires in Support, I always tell them not to be afraid to ask questions and lean on their resources (whether that’s documentation or their fellow peers). I've always found that there truly is no expectation to know all things—it's impossible! But you can get into the right rooms to educate yourself and find the people that can help you get to the right place. Personally, I think that shows that you're hungry for more and are eager to do the best job possible.
Which restaurants in the Favor app do you order from most often and what do you order?
I'm not beholden to a single restaurant; I need to have variety. But, if I had to run the numbers, I'd say breakfast tacos at Brazas Taco House or the migas plate from El Tacorrido...sooo good. 🌮
