The ecological crisis and the broader climate-emergency are more than immense challenges, they are an opportunity for our generations to make a real difference, an epochal challenge that we must accept with enthusiasm and positivity.
We have the opportunity to embark on a new economic journey to transform the way we produce and consume, creating new jobs and new professions. A journey where entrepreneurs and workers cooperate for a greater purpose: to keep the human race and millions of other species from the risk of extinction.
We have the opportunity to open our minds and think creatively, to project ourselves outside of our daily lives and make our desire for a clean and sustainable world a living reality. We have the opportunity to make an exciting radical change, to do something together that is meaningful and which leads us forward.
We have the opportunity to change the jobs we do, to take risks, explore the unknown and be excited about it because we know why we are doing it. We have the opportunity to say a big ‘Yes!’ to a career change, to a period of reassessment, to a revolution in the way we work.
We have the opportunity to change our lifestyle and our consumption patterns and switch consumption from unsustainable to sustainable, without reducing our level of satisfaction.
We have the opportunity for the first time to be a global humanity, all together, working for the same goal, for the most important project humanity has faced till now. People from north, south, east and west with one clear focus that unites everyone: to transform the economy and our way of living into one that is fulfilling and sustainable.
We have the opportunity to avoid the increase of injustice and inequality that climate change could bring. So that it doesn’t hit the poorest and the weakest. We have the opportunity to confront and beat greed, our own and that of others, because we have a real, achievable higher goal.
We have the opportunity, now, to earn the respect of our children and grandchildren, because they will know how hard we have worked to avoid the unthinkable.
We have this opportunity. Let’s now work together with sense of urgency and with no fear of change.
