Overcoming 'Cringe Mountain' Inspired By - Courtney Johnson 📣 Social Media

As some of you may or may not know, Courtney Johnson 📣 Social Media is my absolute inspiration when it comes to building an unstoppable personal brand. Courtney provides a full in-depth analysis of how to overcome 'cringe mountain' so make sure to give her follow!

However I will give you my own perspective of what 'cringe mountain' means to me and then what it may mean to many of you reading this article.

So What Is 'Cringe Mountain'?

Have you ever heard your friends, family, business partners or EVEN YOURSELF say...

"I really want to start posting on social media but it feels so cringe/awkward/cheesy?"

You may even fear what other people will think of you!

Then if that's the case,

You have found yourself on the path of the 'cringe mountain' - and you're in exactly the right place.

To create any successful personal brand or even putting yourself out there in any capacity you have to completely climb and scale 'cringe mountain'.

But listen to this, anyone who has conquered 'cringe mountain' will never judge you for creating your first piece of content.

Only the individuals who are afraid to embark on 'cringe mountain' are the ones that are going to judge.

Overcoming 'cringe mountain' is a journey!

It isn't something you're going to be able to crack overnight.

It's a matter of acceptance...

Just like Courtney Johnson 📣 Social Media says "you have to be okay with being cringe".

How To Start Scaling 'Cringe Mountain'?

Before you even start to climb 'Cringe Mountain,' you need to identify the root of what's causing you to cringe.

Maybe it stems from your childhood.

Perhaps a fear of being different from your friends?

That’s often the case.

Or maybe you’re crafting a 'false self,' making assumptions about what others think of you?

If you feel you're frozen in this situation then maybe consider seeking professional support.

However, what I’ve found works for me is simply showing up every day. It might start with something small, like a written post, and then you can gradually work your way up.

First a 30-second video, then a 60-second one, and eventually even a podcast.

It’s just like going to the gym and working on your muscles.

Certain exercises might feel awkward at first, but like anything else, repetition builds confidence.

'The Climb' - Getting To The Peak Of Cringe Mountain and What It Takes?

To get to the peak of 'Cringe Mountain' it takes courage to be vulnerable.

Sharing your authentic self can feel uncomfortable, especially when you're not used to it.

But vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness.

The more you allow yourself to be real, the more you connect with others and grow.

It’s also what I mentioned prior to 'the climb' talking about the importance of taking small, consistent steps.

Resilience plays a major role as well.

There will be setbacks, moments when it feels overwhelming, but persistence is key.

The more you show up, even when it's uncomfortable, the less power the cringe holds over you.

Finally, ensure to practice self-compassion throughout the journey.

Everyone experiences cringe moments, and that’s okay.

The more you practice, the more natural it will feel.

In my opinion overcoming ‘Cringe Mountain’ is about turning awkwardness into ease, and through perseverance, you’ll find that what once felt cringeworthy will eventually become second nature eventually finding yourself in the 'land of cool'.
