We Are Seated With Jesus - Therefore We Have Authority In Christ!

Introduction

You have been raised with Christ and seated with Him in heavenly places, a position of power and purpose. This truth, rooted in Ephesians 2:6, grants you authority over the forces of darkness. It’s not theoretical—it’s real. Through Christ, you can command the enemy to flee and declare God’s promises over your life. This authority is a gift, not a burden. You’ve been equipped to overcome challenges, whether physical, financial, or spiritual. Jesus has already secured the victory. Now, it’s your turn to enforce it. Use His Word, His name, and His Spirit as your weapons. Stand firm against opposition and speak boldly in faith. Take your place, walk in authority, and live the abundant life God has promised. Remember, you are in the room!

Now Let’s Eat Some Meat!

God desires Christians to take authority over the devil through Christ. You have been given this authority to command the enemy, as Ephesians 2:4-6 (AMP) declares, “But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us, even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus,” It’s not a question of whether you can—because you absolutely can! By being seated with Jesus, you have power over the works of darkness.

God, rich in mercy, loved us deeply. Even though we were dead in sin, He gave us life by raising Christ from the dead. “And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus,” as Ephesians 2:6 (AMP) tells us, we are seated with Christ in heavenly places because we are united with Him. This seating grants us spiritual authority. Just as Jesus is seated in a place of honor, so are we, positioned with Him, given authority to act against darkness.

Jesus suffered for you. He died, descended to hell, and was raised for you. God raised you up with Him, giving you a place at His right hand. You now hold the responsibility to exercise this authority over darkness. This means no more complaining about the enemy’s influence in your life; start using your authority today.

Before Jesus ascended, He assured His disciples: "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]" John 16:33 (AMP). His message wasn't doom and gloom but a reminder of our victory through Him. He has overcome, and so can we through His authority, the authority we have in His name, in union with Him. Now Selah…(Pause and think about that for a moment)

Like a parent enforcing discipline, you must exercise your authority as a believer to secure the victory Christ has already won for you. Speak God’s Word over every situation that contradicts His blessings. By doing so, you enforce His will in your life, family, community, and even your nation. The Word of God shows us that we are called to exercise authority in specific areas.

Where can you use your authority in Christ? God has given you the ability to overcome the enemy's schemes, and this is incredible news. As Jesus informed the 70 when they returned to Him in Luke 10:17-19 (AMP), “The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like [a flash of] lightning. 19Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.“ In other words, you have been given authority to trample on the power of the enemy. Whether it's financial lack, sickness, or any spiritual warfare, you can use God's Word to change your circumstances. That’s what God intended, remember this, in John 1:1-2 (AMP) we’re told “In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God” and then Jesus tells us why He, the Word in the Flesh came in John 10:10 (AMP), “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”

Here are six areas where you can exercise your authority in Christ:

  1. Authority over finances: Luke 6:38 (AMP) encourages giving and receiving as a part of walking in God’s financial blessing. “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.”
  2. Authority over sickness: Luke 9:1 (AMP) shows Jesus giving His disciples power to heal diseases and cast out demons. “Now Jesus called together the twelve [disciples] and gave them [the right to exercise] power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.”
  3. Authority in prayer for others’ salvation: 1 Timothy 2:1, 3-4 (AMP) calls us to pray for all people, that they may come to know the truth and be saved. “First of all, then, I urge that petitions (specific requests), prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people…This [kind of praying] is good and acceptable and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge and recognition of the [divine] truth.”
  4. Authority over spiritual warfare: Ephesians 6:11-13 (AMP) equips us to stand firm against the strategies of the devil through God’s armor. “Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious”
  5. Authority to command angels: Hebrews 1:13-14 (AMP) reminds us that angels are ministering spirits sent to assist those who inherit salvation. “But to which of the angels has the Father ever said,“Sit at My right hand [together with  me in royal dignity], Until I make your enemies A footstool for your feet [in triumphant conquest]”? Are not all the angels ministering spirits sent out [by God] to serve (accompany, protect) those who will inherit salvation? [Of course they are!]”
  6. Authority to pray for leaders: 1 Timothy 2:2 exhorts us to pray for those in authority, ensuring peace and godliness in society. “The things [the doctrine, the precepts, the admonitions, the sum of my ministry] which you have heard me teach in the presence of many witnesses, entrust [as a treasure] to reliable and faithful men who will also be capable and qualified to teach others.”

Take hold of this truth by declaring it now: As a believer, I am seated with Christ and hold authority over sickness, lack, and evil spirits. I command fear to leave and plead the blood of Jesus over my family, church, and finances. I walk in the authority given to me by the name above every name—Jesus.

Tell me, better yet, ask yourself, are you ready to enforce God’s will in your life? You have been positioned in Christ, given His Word, His blood, and His Name as tools. Don’t wait any longer—use your authority and tell the devil to get back under your feet!
