Web Design: Finding a Unique Design Solution

Web Design: Finding a Unique Design Solution

How the User interacts with the Interface and how he adapts to it is one of the central issues of Web Design. In the last article, we discussed how a Web Designer builds a User Interface, but today we will talk about a different aspect of a Web Designer's job - finding and creating unique Design Solutions.

Unique Web Product: References

Many people underestimate the power and importance of Inspiration: of course, experience is important in the work of a Web Designer, but the creative aspect of the project plays a key role. Unfortunately, a Web Designer is not ready to “generate” brilliant and original ideas on a daily basis.

In such cases, you can turn to References: if you are collaborating with a Web Designer, give him some examples of how you see the future Project. It can be anything from a diagram on paper, to an online meeting and a verbal discussion.

References help the Web Designer to tune in to the “right wave”: to better understand the ideas and values of the project, as well as to see new directions for creativity. This approach allows you to get a better product in the end. If you're a Web Designer and you're having trouble finding inspiration, then try taking a break from the project - you never know where you might "stumble" on a new idea.

Unique Web Product: Brand Identity

When a Web Designer develops a Service or an Application, first of all he “listens” to the Brand Values and Identity. All elements of the future web resource must comply with the ideals that were laid down in other Products and the Brand itself.

This applies to all aspects of the project, from typography and color palette to structure and sections. Only when all elements adhere to the same style will the Web Resource become attractive and coherent.

What you should pay attention to?

  • Together with the Web Designer, determine what type of content will be systemically important;
  • Coordinate fonts, shades, and flow of text: most often it makes up the bulk of the content;
  • Decide on the format of illustrations, animations and videos, as they are bright accents in Web Design;
  • Pay special attention to the logo: it is the “face” of the Brand and must comply with Internet standards;
  • Determine the ratio of active and passive “space” of a Web Resource: this is the only way you can attract users' attention to important content;
  • If your Brand already has a Brand Book, then provide it to a Web Designer: this will greatly facilitate his work.
