Michaella and Rick celebrated their love on Lake Maggiore

We fell in love with Lake Maggiore a year before our big day whilst attending our friend’s wedding on the lake.

We then contacted Federica of  Verbano Events to help us look for wedding venues around the Italian Lakes, we shortlisted three, and finally found the one of our dreams. The Villa we chose is a gem with rolling grass all the way to the lake and equipped with an area for canapés, a beautiful space for a ceremony, and a marquee for dinner and evening party to follow. The Villa is set on the dreamy shores of Lake Maggiore, not far from Stresa and Baveno and the other towns around Lake Maggiore. We loved the fact that the wedding location was a private venue where we could have fun in complete privacy, not far from the Grand Hotel Majestic, and only 1-hour drive from Milan’s airport. This meant that guests could all stay at the Grand Hotel Majestic and walk to the wedding venue! It removed so many logistics and transportation issues for us! Federica took care of the table plan and decor for the reception, I bought “Hang Over Kits”and FIJI kindly offered their water for all the guests. For my colour palette, I wanted white and soft pale pink to reflect the lovely colours of the Villa’s garden flowers. 

My dress was tailored in London, then adjusted by a tailor to create the final soft and romantic effect. My dress was in no way simple, so the other details including my hair which Luca from Hair Team in Stresa did immaculately and makeup by my friend Alexandra Steinherr had to compliment it. I am a Master Facialist and Skincare Expert, I was lucky to have my friend Alessandra Steinherr on hand to create my wedding look. For my hair, I opted for an up-do, since firstly I didn’t want to detract from the dress and secondly we were having a summer wedding so it would have been too hot! For my makeup, I went quite glamorous on my eyes as my dress and wedding style was very elegant and timeless.  

With Federica and the Verbano Events team on hand, organising a wedding abroad was smooth and easy and nothing was ever too much trouble for Federica and her experienced team. They planned all aspects and dealt from start to finish with the local suppliers. We could not have organised the day without our wedding planner Federica who helped on so many levels. Federica is bilingual in Italian and English so communication and understanding of English customs and traditions was never an issue, her over 19 years of experience in planning really showed through. Federica followed our style choices in all aspects from flowers to that amazing cake, which we still dream of!

One of the best things I did was to hire a boat cruise for all the guests after the ceremony with Prosecco and canapés, this was a lovely moment to share with friends and family, and allowed us to show the beauty of Lake Maggiore and the Borromeo Islands to all our family and guests. Federica helped us choose the caterers, photographers, florists, and entertainment and trusting her turned out to be a success!
