Paramount Discloses Data Breach Following Security Incident

American entertainment giant Paramount Global disclosed a data breach after its systems got hacked and attackers gained access to personally identifiable information (PII). Paramount said in breach notification letters signed by Nickelodeon Animation Studio EVP Brian Keane sent to affected individuals that the attackers had access to its systems between May and June 2023. Mom's Meals Parent Company, PurFoods, Discloses Data Breach

PurFoods (doing business as Mom's Meals) filed a data breach report with the Maine Attorney General’s Office, stating that attackers acquired sensitive info such as name or other personal identifier, together with financial account number or payment card (credit or debit) number, security and access codes, and passwords or PINs for the account. Forever 21 Data Breach Affects Half a Million People

Clothing giant Forever 21 said a data breach earlier in the year affects more than half a million individuals. A data breach notice filed with Maine’s attorney general said the fashion giant was hacked over a three-month period beginning early January 2023, during which intruders obtained files from its systems. VMware has released software updates to correct two security vulnerabilities in Aria Operations for Networks that could be potentially exploited to bypass authentication and gain remote code execution. The most severe of the flaws is CVE-2023-34039 (CVSS score: 9.8), which relates to a case of authentication bypass arising as a result of a lack of unique cryptographic key generation.

The FBI has led a multinational law enforcement operation that has successfully dismantled QakBot, a leading malware loader used by cybercriminals to deploy ransomware. It then seized 52 servers, which it said would “permanently dismantle” the botnet, and redirected QakBot’s traffic to servers controlled by the Bureau, pointing victims to download an uninstaller.
