Autonomous Reach Remote 1 Was Cut Away from Its "Umbilical Cord"

Last weekend, Captain Håkon Brathagen of Massterly (a Wilhelmsen group/Kongsberg Maritime joint venture) maneuvered the drone Reach Remote 1 from the quay at Trosvik yard and into open waters.

All onboard systems were tested, as well as the data links, and the functionality of the remote-control station. They are now ready for the official sea trials program, which will be followed by extensive testing of the autonomous and remote-control functions.

Our business areas Kongsberg Discovery and Kongsberg Maritime have been chosen as the exclusive suppliers of marine scientific equipment, oceanographic handling systems and deck machinery for two new National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) charting and mapping vessels, the Surveyor and Navigator.

The vessels are being constructed by Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors, a leading shipbuilding company based in Louisiana, USA.

Historical Contract to Deliver Missiles to US Navy and Marine Corps

Our business area Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed a multi-year procurement contract with the US Navy for the delivery of Naval Strike Missile (NSM) missiles to the Navy and Fleet Marine Force over a five-year period

NSM is the centerpiece of the Navy’s Over-the-Horizon Weapons System (OTH-WS) Program, and is being installed on Littoral Combat Ships and CONSTELLATION-class Frigates. We are also delivering NSM to the US Marine Corps as a key component of its NMESIS (Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System) Program.
