Week Notes (An Interlude)

Week Notes (An Interlude)

I’m writing this on my phone and with ropey WiFi, so forgive the lack of formatting…

Friends, it’s been a while.

Truth be told I need a break, as the frenetic pace of work and life surfaces the same patterns of avoidance, dread and guilt; the tension between the need to rest and the need to act.

It’s been an interesting few weeks.

To keep you in the loop, this includes the launch of our new training course, the B Corp Festival, the start of something new with the Year Here Foundation and the development of a new Lego Serious Play x Three Horizons event in November.

But also the drifting of things like the PechaKucha improv event and the slower pace to organise a design justice north event. When I lose momentum it’s hard to get it back, but I’ll get there if it’s meant to be.

My prompt for writing today is three-fold: gratitude, to share my current explorations and to test an idea.

Gratitude

Most of you will know I hold an open space every other Friday for anyone to talk to me about anything.

This has been an incredible and nourishing experiment and I’m grateful to those who chat to me and the developing friendships when people come back for deeper conversations.

Personally it’s helped me with my confidence to speak to new people and exercise how I see myself and tell my own story. Most importantly to reflect and share my learnings over time, strengthening my knowledge and articulation of concepts particularly around complexity. So thank you to everyone.

Explorations

I posted the other day about my ongoing interest in the policy design space, especially all this talk of missions, and how I see the connections between imagination, play and experiments in how we work ourselves and with others to shape how we co-exist.

I hope this energy from the governments at all levels persists and there is a chance to see how we can bringing in the business community…

An idea

I want to build a website to outline my Lego Serious Play offerings.

I have a feeling I’ll build it in Notion as that’s the easiest platform for a test run.

On this website, I want to be absolutely transparent on how much I would charge. Inspired by the formulas Dark Matter Labs use and the openness of people like George Monbiot, I want to be upfront on how much I value my time and expertise as well as how much I need to sustain a life.

So I want to build a calculator for how much I charge. It would include a set fee for specific types of organisations with discounts for charities/not-for-profits.

Does anything like this already exist for inspiration? Do any people have formulas or things they consider when creating a fee that they would be willing to share?

If not, when I get around to build it, I’ll test it and share it in case anyone else finds it useful.

Thanks!

Bye!
