Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers! As you celebrate the holiday, here’s a roundup of the biggest process excellence news headlines.

On Monday, our Research & Reports bulletin covered new findings revealing that cost is the most significant barrier to implementing document automation in finance operations, with 32 percent of leaders identifying it as a top challenge. The Document Automation Trends 2025 report found that, despite significant strides in document automation such as intelligent document processing (IDP), 58 percent of finance leaders still consider Excel their most often used tool for automating financial tasks.

Separate research from Gartner found that chief financial officers (CFOs) and finance leaders rate metrics, analytics and reporting as their top focus area for 2025 (72 percent), reflecting an emphasis on delivering insight to improve business performance. The survey of 251 CFOs showed that finance transformation is far less of a priority for CFOs in 2025, with a focus on AI adoption in finance ranking fourth (49 percent).

Elsewhere, researchers proposed the concept of process twins to achieve process discovery through process mining and GitHub discovered that AI copilot-generated code is more functional, easier to read and has higher approval rates than code written by humans.

On Wednesday, our Vendor news featured an apparent slowing in the rapid growth of graphics processing unit (GPUs) giant NVIDIA . Despite the firm’s latest quarterly sales almost doubling from the previous year, it was the second consecutive period NVIDIA’s outlook didn’t exceed analysts’ estimates by a billion or more, Bloomberg reported. “NVIDIA’s fourth-quarter revenue guidance apparently left investors concerned about capacity constraints and the potential impact that future tariffs proposed by the incoming US administration may have on NVIDIA’s growth,” claimed Saira Malik , chief investment officer at Nuveen, a TIAA company .

In other news, IBM and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced they will unveil their latest responsible AI milestones at AWS re:Invent next week. The pair are working together to help ensure that organizations can harness the power of generative AI, emphasizing transparency, security and trust. Meanwhile, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram , Meta , continued its bid to embed its AI technology in the UK’s public sector – particularly the NHS (National Health Service). It held the Llama Impact Hackathon in London, bringing together over 200 developers across 56 teams, all leveraging Meta’s open-source Llama 3.2 model to address critical challenges in healthcare, clean energy and social mobility.

Elsewhere, Celonis partnered with advertising resource management (ARM) software provider MINT to transform process optimization in marketing and media while neutrinos | platforms launched a new intelligent automation marketplace for insurance. Accenture announced fresh investment to enhance contact center efficiency with generative AI, Pegasystems added AI-driven legacy discovery capabilities to enhance digital transformation, WalkMe™ introduced new AI capabilities and scalability features and Esker U.S. added new generative AI capabilities to its source-to-pay suite.

Our final news roundup of the week bright the latest updates from the process excellence Community. We learnt that President-elect Donald Trump is considering appointing a The White House AI czar to coordinate federal policy and governmental use of the technology. The CZAR AI will be charged with focusing both public and private resources to keep America in the AI forefront. Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk is expected to be closely involved in shaping the future of the debate and use cases.

In the sporting world, new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim called for improvements in the Premier League side’s recruitment process, citing his “great responsibility” in the club’s choice of players. Elsewhere, Swire Coca-Cola optimized its operations in Hong Kong, the Mayo Clinic began its search for a new automation process analyst and The HEINEKEN Company ’s Ronald den Elzen spoke about the brewing company’s Agile DNA.

Finally, Post University appointed Jeanna Sinn as their new COO to drive OPEX and streamline processes, aviation leader Lufthansa Group shared its “benchmark” BPM success story, precious metals and jewelry firm Pallion Group expedited its internal processes and customer service and construction materials provider Knife River Corporation appointed Glenn Pladsen as new VP and chief excellence officer.
