(1/5) Connected TV is YouTube's Fastest Growing Viewing Option - 5 Tips for Creators to Capitalize
Connected TV is the fastest growing viewing option on YouTube. More and more people are connecting their TVs to their YouTube account to consume content.
YouTube has provided new tips with this shift in mind, outlining five key notes to consider when creating content with Connected TV viewing.
The 5 Tips:
Uploading content in 4k - YouTube says that the latest TVs are capable of streaming content in 4k, 8k and HDR. So where possible videos should be uploaded in the highest resolution.
High resolution thumbnails - YouTube advised creators to upload high resolution thumbnails, as they will appear much larger on TV screens than on mobile or desktop.
Maximizing inline preview - YouTube advises creators to hook viewers in the first 10-30 seconds in order to capitalize on the inline preview (the autoplay preview when a user hovers over the thumbnail)
Episodic content - YouTube also says that creators should try to make episodic content, and mark their episodes within the playlist tab. Video titles should lead with the episode title and the series name as a suffix.
Consistent thumbnail themes - YouTube says that thumbnails should have consistent appearances while also communicating what each specific episode entails.
This all links back to the habitual viewing behaviors linked to TV viewers. YouTube is looking to maximize its offering, aligning creators to drive more interest.

(3/5) Instagram Becomes Even More Like TikTok
Instagram fills its pockets once more, with another TikTok-like feature.
Meta has announced that it's adding a dedicated destination for trending audio and hashtags on Reels, expanding gifts on Reels to more countries, enhancing Reels editing tools, adding new metrics and more.
Creators will be able to see the top trending songs on Reels, and how many times the audio has been used, and then tap it to use or save for later.
Creators will also be able to see top trending topics and hashtags on Reels using the new Professional Dashboard.
The new update will also make it easier to edit Reels on Instagram, as the app has brought video clips, audio, stickers and text under a unified editing screen. Basically Reels, is now even more like TikTok.
Instagram is no stranger to nabbing a feature. In fact, the platform found itself under intense scrutiny last year for “trying to become TikTok.”
