The Weekend Picklist ☕️ Data Cloud & Einstein 1, Summer ‘24 Release Updates, and Common Case Formulas

Every weekend, we’ll be delivering our top headlines – highlights from the previous week for you to enjoy with a cup of coffee! ☕️

In today's edition:

1. What on Earth Are Data Cloud & Einstein 1 and Why Are They So Important?

So far this year, it’s all been about Data Cloud and Einstein 1 – heralded as the perfect partnership and very much fueled by AI advancements, the two heavyweights are here to stay.

The figures tell the story best: annual growth may be the lowest on record, but Salesforce stock has increased by 70% over the past year. And Data Cloud itself is the fastest-growing organic product in the CRM’s history, with almost $400M in ARR and 7 trillion (that’s right!) records ingested so far.

All this makes for a happy Wall Street and, we’re betting, some happy stakeholders too, especially as Einstein 1’s AI capabilities begin to embed.

2. Salesforce Summer ‘24 Release: What to Expect and How to Prepare

Yes, we know it’s still Spring ‘24 season, but it’s never too early to start preparing for the next Salesforce release. A number of release updates will be autoenabled at some point, so it’s well worth taking steps to get your own Salesforce org ready for those inevitable changes.

You’ll want to be mindful of making changes in production – perhaps plan these for when your users and/or customers are least likely to be impacted if something does go wrong. As always, enabling changes in a sandbox first is the way to go.

Here’s what’s in store for Summer ‘24:

  • Allow only trusted cross-org redirections
  • Enable EmailSimple Invocable Action to respect organization-wide profile settings
  • Migrate to a multiple-configuration SAML framework
  • Pass the conversation intelligence rule name as input to a flow
  • Run flows in bot user context
  • Transition to the Lightning Editor for email composers in email-to-case

  • Einstein 1 Add-On: Enterprise or Unlimited edition customers can upgrade to access the GPT suite of tools – talk to your account executive and purchase the Einstein add-ons (in the form of Einstein for Sales, Service, and Platform).

5. Practical Examples of Salesforce Case Formulas

We all love a formula for boosting productivity and enhancing the overall user experience in Salesforce. But how about in relation to the CASE function?

While the widely known IF function checks if a statement is true or false, and returns one of two results, the CASE function verifies whether the actual value of a field, text, or number matches one of the values that went in, returning a corresponding result. The function can be used to return a formula based on a picklist value or to create custom groupings for various use cases.

Here are some of the most common scenarios which represent the different ways you can leverage the CASE() function across departments and requirements:

  • Use images in formula fields
  • Account classification
  • Determine the fiscal quarter
  • CASE status and response time
  • Combine IF and CASE statements
