March 8, 2024 -- At the end of 2023, every fast-charging cord in the country was plugged in for an average of five hours a day. This recent surge in charger utilization represents an encouraging shift: Many public EV charging stations are seeing profits for the first time.

7. Solar Power: Wisconsin’s Top Clean Energy Investment

October 17, 2024 -- In a recent report, scientist-led nonprofit group Climate Central analyzed each state’s public and private spending on clean energy. It found that Wisconsin spent $6 billion on renewables, with most of the money — $3.8 billion — going towards solar power.

March 13, 2024 -- The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) has published its assessment of U.S. electric vehicle charging needs and announced deployments through 2032. 5. The Rise of the Battery Belt

November 17, 2023 -- More than $90 billion in battery technology investments have been announced nationwide in 2023, spurring an estimated 70,000 jobs and breathing new life into US manufacturing. These state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities are forming what has come to be known as the “Battery Belt”—a geographic cluster of manufacturers that is rapidly establishing a new, ever-expanding domestic cleantech supply chain.

4. US Creates New Cybersecurity Baselines for Distributed Energy Resources, Electric Distribution Systems

March 14, 2024 -- Prompted by looming threats from abroad, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) have released a set of cybersecurity baselines for electric distribution systems and the distributed energy resources (DER) that connect to them, with the purpose of creating a starting point for cyber risk reduction activities.

3. Nailable Solar Shingles Secure GAF’s Top Spot as Leading Solar Roofing Manufacturer

June 6, 2024 -- GAF Energy has been named the world’s “largest producer of solar roofing,” according to both the company and a recently published article from Electrek.

GAF’s Timberline Solar Energy Shingle, which was designed to replace traditional solar panels or heavy tiles typically used for solar roofing, was released in January 2022.

2. Solar Power World Releases List of Top Solar Contractors by State for 2024

July 25, 2024 -- Solar Power World has released its list of 2024 Top Solar Contractors by State. The individual state and territory lists were determined by kilowatts installed within each jurisdiction; 49 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico all have their separate lists.

1. Shell Announces Closure of 1,000 Gas Stations, Adjusts Focus to EV Charging

March 25, 2024 -- Oil and gas giant Shell plans to close 1,000 of its retail gas stations between 2024 and 2025. The closures represent the company’s shifting focus and utilization of its resources to expand services for EVs.
