Weekly Innovations from ISRAEL #15: Accelerating Code, Protecting Goods

Our world is rapidly becoming software-driven, with digital systems powering nearly every aspect of modern life. As our reliance on software deepens, the ability to develop and deliver it efficiently has become paramount.

Remarkably, developer-focused Israeli companies are streamlining the delivery of new digital products, ushering in an era of exponential productivity growth in our society.

While the digital realm expands at breakneck speed, we mustn't overlook the tangible world around us. Surprisingly, cutting-edge nanotechnology offers a novel way to authenticate and trace physical products, ensuring trust and integrity in an increasingly digital age.

This week's featured Israeli innovators showcase how Israeli innovations show prowess in both realms – empowering the software-driven future while safeguarding the real world we inhabit.

Codefresh - Streamlining Continuous Software Delivery

Let's begin by shining a light on Codefresh , an Israeli devops company taking a fresh approach to continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), with a cloud-native twist.

If you're not familiar with these terms, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) ensure that new software versions are always ready for deployment, enabling updates to go live with a simple click.

Managing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure has often bottlenecked software developers. Traditional tools demand significant setup and maintenance, slowing down innovation. Codefresh, a next-generation CI/CD platform, is here to change the game.

Designed to make CI/CD effortless for developers and agile teams, Codefresh provides instant feedback on code changes through lightning-fast parallel builds. This accelerates development cycles and boosts productivity, allowing teams to innovate without delays.

The company, founded in 2014 by Oleg Verhovsky, Dan Garfield and Raziel Tabib, has been recently acquired by Australia’s Octopus Deploy, resulting in a combined devops powerhouse that now has more than 4,000 customers.

Logz.io - Unified Observability and Security Analytics

In contrast to streamlining software delivery, understanding complex systems' behavior can feel like piecing together an incomplete puzzle. The Israeli company Logz.io turns mountains of metrics and logs into a clear, actionable picture.

Their unified observability platform combines log, metric, and trace analytics, offering a holistic view that transforms how we understand and optimize our systems. It's about seeing more, understanding better, and acting faster.

Logz.io 's Security Analytics stands out by merging log analytics with the power of AI, enabling swift threat identification and remediation.

Cost efficiency is another key capability: With their Data Optimization Hub, businesses can filter out unnecessary data, significantly cutting storage costs and improving signal-to-noise ratios.

Just as having full visibility into software systems is crucial, so too is controlling access to those systems and data. This brings us to our next innovative Israeli startup...

Entitle - Just-in-Time Access Management

The 'just in time' (JIT) philosophy emphasizes providing resources precisely when and where needed, avoiding static provisioning in favor of an efficient, dynamic flow aligned with actual demand.

This concept has been adopted in IT for better access management: Instead of static user roles with unchanging permissions, access is dynamically approved, provisioned temporarily for the minimum required scope, and automatically revoked after use. This approach reduces attack surfaces and implicitly mistrusts all requests until verified.

Entitle, an interesting Israeli startup, offers a permissions management system enabling this approach. Their software automates granting targeted, time-limited privileges across an organization's entire cloud infrastructure and SaaS applications. Employees can quickly request just the access they need through familiar tools like Slack. Approvals and provisioning occur automatically, with all access fully logged and audited.

Congratulations to Entitle on their recent acquisition by BeyondTrust !

Dotz Nano - Authenticating Physical Products with Nanotech

Now, let's shift from trust in the virtual world to establishing trust in physical products.

Counterfeit goods not only undermine brand integrity but can also pose safety risks. Dotz Nano Ltd , has developed a ingenious solution to tackle this challenge - this borders on science fiction:

Imagine a pair of jeans manufactured by a reputable brand. During production, Dotz Nano's proprietary nano-particles, called quantum carbon dots, are embedded into the fabric at a precise ratio – perhaps one particle per million or billion other particles. These tiny dots possess a unique electro-optical property, emitting specific wavelengths of light when illuminated at predetermined wavelengths.

This characteristic creates a distinct and unambiguous signature for each product, enabling real-time authentication and traceability through handheld detectors and cloud-based management platforms.

Dotz Nano's technology adapts to industries like construction, chemicals, agriculture, plastics, and lubricants. By providing tools for product authentication, liability tracking, and in-field measurement, the company helps businesses combat counterfeiting and ensure product integrity.

That's it for today: whether operating in the virtual realm of ones and zeros or the atoms of the physical universe, Israeli ingenuity continues to push technological boundaries.
