Weekly Recap, June 6th - June 12th 2022

Hey there, hi there, ho there!

Here's my LinkedIn posts for the past week...plus a few extra gems to entertain.

Ready? Because here it comes!

"Tiger Global did 421 deals in the 12 months to March 2022." 🤯 🐅

Most the money in the Dutch government's fund to boost local innovation has gone outside the Netherlands. 🇳🇱 🤦🏻♂️

"Europe’s largest asset manager has likened parts of the private equity industry to a 'Ponzi scheme' that will face a reckoning in the coming years." 🚩

Founders doing the heavy lifting so their investors can take all the glory for the success on social media. 🏋️♀️

It only took old money Europeans 20 years to recover last time from venture investing. 😅

Jeff Bezos on the advantages startups have over corporate incumbents. 🦖

"US valuations on a 10-year, cyclically-adjusted basis were about three times higher than in the UK. That has not narrowed much despite this year’s US-centric sell-off". 💰

Depends a lot on which sector a startup is in, but overall this feels about right at the moment. 📉

Good read on America’s Frontier Fund, an important US deep tech initiative that I will be following closely. 🦅

And just like that a16z has agreed to fund TMC. 🍼 😉 🤣

"Japan plans to tap the $1.5tn might of the world’s biggest pension fund to build a desperately needed domestic start-up culture". 🥷🏽 A possible model for Europe, whose pension funds largely sit on the sidelines in backing European venture funds and tech companies.

“‘We're going to start a crossover fund’…it will be a closed-end fund that will invest in public equities, early to late-stage startups, and venture capital funds, among other investments.” Sure, ok. 🤷🏼

"Michael Jackson, VC americano ora trasferitosi a Parigi che ha un grande seguito nel Vecchio Continente (persona assolutamente da seguire per chi si occupa di Venture Capital)." 😊 🇮🇹 🤌🏻🤌🏻

Now time for some extras!

If you blended all 7.88 billion ppl on Earth into a fine goo (density of a human=985 kg/m3, average human body mass=62 kg), you would end up with a sphere of human goo just under 1 km wide. This is a visualization of how that would look like in Central Park. 🍝
