Wrapping Up a Remarkable Year
As the year draws to a close, the focus shifted towards strategic engagements that set the tone for the future. This week was filled with meaningful interactions that highlighted the progress we've made and the path forward. It began with a visit from Mr. Ibrahim Dikko , Managing Director of Backbone Connectivity Network BCN Nigeria , where we discussed Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation. The week also included a visit to the Defence Space Administration , where I had the honor of attending the graduation ceremony of a new cohort trained in satellite technology. Additionally, the final edition of #DevsInGovernment for 2024 provided a powerful platform to celebrate the technologists leading digital innovation in government. Each of these moments not only celebrated our achievements but also sparked important conversations on how we can continue to drive progress and innovation in the year ahead.
Meeting with the MD, Backbone Connectivity Network
The week began with a strong focus on preparing for the year’s final activities. We hosted Mr. Ibrahim Dikko , the Managing Director of Backbone Connectivity Network BCN Nigeria , at our headquarters. This visit was a key moment for building collaboration between two important players in Nigeria’s digital and communications space.
Our discussions focused on how satellite technologies can support Nigeria’s digital goals. We talked about solutions to improve connectivity and communication services, with a shared goal of advancing technology that benefits everyone. It was a productive exchange that reinforced the value of working together to drive progress.
As the week went on, this meeting set the tone for continued efforts toward meaningful impact.
Special Guest at the V.O.N management retreat
On Tuesday, I was honored to be a special guest of the Director General of Voice of Nigeria VON , Jibrin Baba Ndace, MNIPR , at the formal opening of the organization’s management retreat. The theme, “VON in the 21st Century: Re-strategizing for Global Impact,” highlighted the need for Voice of Nigeria to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
As partners in Nigeria’s information and communication ecosystem, NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) remains committed to supporting VON’s efforts. By harnessing satellite technology, we can help VON expand its global reach, deliver high-quality content, and amplify Nigeria’s story on the international stage. The retreat was a timely reminder of the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change and positioning Nigeria for greater visibility worldwide.
DSA Executive Management Graduation Ceremony
Moving on, I visited the Defence Space Administration (DSA), where I was warmly received by the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal L.I. Oluwatoyin, at the graduation ceremony for participants of the Executive Management, Basic Space Technology, and Capacity Building Course.

I commend the CDSA for his forward-looking approach to equipping staff with advanced knowledge in satellite technology. This training ensures the team stays prepared to address evolving challenges in the satellite industry.
A highlight of the event was the graduates’ presentation on “The Design of Cubesat and the Configuration of a Satellite Communications System Network in Support of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.” Their work showcased how theoretical knowledge was translated into practical solutions, reinforcing the value of the program.
The ceremony also included an exhibition of innovative projects developed during the training. These projects reflected the creativity and technical expertise of the participants, underscoring the program’s transformative impact. I applauded the DSA for this commendable initiative and emphasized the importance of replicating such efforts across the sector to drive innovation and capacity building.
Last Edition of the DevsInGovernment Initiative 2024
